Nura: A twist on what your religion tells youReader comment on item: Europe or Eurabia? Submitted by Plato (India), May 24, 2008 at 08:28 Nura you wrote: >>A Few things My religion tell me:<< >>1.) Worship one God, setting NO partners with him< Why one god, how do you KNOW there aren't a zillion (they will murder each other until one is left?) >>2.) Fast<< It gives you hypoglycemia before you break fast in the evening. Many accidents in Muslim countries can be attributed to this. 3.) Give regular charity/charity can be just a smile to those who cannot afford to give money.( allot of churches should remember that one when requesting their weekly tides) >>Charity (zakat) is also for bribing people to accept Islam. The Koran says so: 9:60 ‘…and for those whose hearts to be reconciled [to the truth]'. >>4.) That paradise is at the foot of the mother<< A woman who has been raped, cannot bring enough witnesses, and becomes a mother is stoned to death. It is hell on earth for such mothers. >>5 To stay away from materialism<< Really? Read 4:19-20: ‘And much BOOTY that they will capture…Allah promiseth you muchy booty that ye will capture.' That is for while you are here on earth. In heaven Allah promises much wine (unintoxicating? Why call it wine instead of fruit juice?), women, and other very earthly pleasures. Allah entices you with material pleasures, Nura. >>6 To always remember Allah and fear displeasing him<< Right! He has a blazing fire waiting for all who displease Him. >>7 To not fornicate<< Except with what your ‘right hand' possess? No need to marry your slaves just use them at your will. >>8 To not commit adultery<< Please tell us what adultery is. Can sleeping with what your ‘right hand' posses be considered adultery? >>9 To be just<< Read about Allah's justice in 4:15 and compare it with 4:16. Also read 4:34 where men have been given the right to beat their wives. >>10 to not use of take interest<< Big deal. Muslims can take booty (including women and children) and use it as the Prophet did, but not interest. (4:19-20) >>11 to not overeat<< Great piece of spiritual advice >>12 To take care of my children and breast-feed them for two years<< Most women do (except maybe in the West, the poor have to depend on breast milk). Is this a religious requirement in Islam? >>13 to not insult the gods of others. Islam does not Insult ANY prophet of Christianity or Judaism. YOU WILL NOT FIND ONE MUSLIM who says that they Hate Jesus or any of the prophets. WE LOVE ALL OF THEM!! We accept ALL of the books that came from them!!! We are the most inclusive Monotheistic religion there is!!! You will never see a cartoons degrading them<< You have specified that Islam does not insult any prophet of Christianity or Judaism because then you will be insulting Islam itself as it is a progeny of these two religions. Now tell us what Muslims think of the sacred idols and symbols of pagans and kaffirs. You insult them and destroy them as did your prophet when he invaded Mecca. You do it now too as happened in Afghanistan and Pakistan. So much for Islamic tolerance. >>14. To love all the prophets the same<< This applies only prophets who appeared in the Middle East, doesn't it? What about prophets who appeared elsewhere? Do you love them? While you are at it you could define prophet for us. >>15 Jesus is the Messiah as prophesied in the Torah. He will return to bring peace on the earth in the last days!!!<< Why did he not do it the first time he was here? He could have saved a lot of trouble for a lot of people. >>16 The best Husband is one who is the best to his wife<< A self-evident truth. >>17 Stay away from all intoxicants<< Why not from religion, the most dangerous intoxicant of all. The other intoxicants damage the abuser first and some near and dear ones. People intoxicated with religion do worldwide damage. >>18 stay away from gambling<< But gamble with your life in Allah's cause. >>19 Honor thy neighbor<< Except if he is a dhimmi or kafir. If he is a dhimmi he has to pay a humiliation tax. If a kafir neighbour offers you food over which he has his favourite god's name a Muslim must disdainfully reject it. Believe me I have seen that happen to a crestfallen friend of mine. >>20 Honor thy guests( Muslims are known for their hospitality)<< Read my response to 19. All honouring is reserved for Muslims by the Prophet and Allah. The disbelievers are dismissed as najees. 009.028 >>21 Keep close ties with your relatives<< Unless they remain unbelievers, then you reject them like Umm Habiba did with her father and as the Koran tells you in 58:22 what Allah thinks of them. >>22 The best is those who restrain their anger<< Has Allah set a good example in the Koran? You see Him flying into a rage for the silliest of reasons. Not believing in his greatness, for instance. >>23 Allah does not like those who transgress limits set in religion or war<< What limit has Allah set in 9:111? >>24 To prefer peace over conflict<< Read 9:111 again >>25 To fight those who oppress you<< Read 9:111 and also the whole of Surah Taubah to get a good understanding of Allah's idea of oppression. >>26 To not force the religion on anyone( You can't force anyone to become Muslim!!! Islam is in the heart, not what the lips say. Forced conversions is the history of Christianity. During the Spanish Inquisitions, Jews and Muslims were tortured until they converted. When they uttered the words of Christ, they were killed so that they could not revert back from faith.<< If so why does Allah say zakat is also for reconciling the hearts of people to Islam (9:60), surelyn a case of financial inducement to accept it. If so why does he say no religion except Islam is acceptable to Him (3:85). If so why did the prophet send out threatening letters to the brothers jalanda: Here is the text of the message the Prophet Mohammad sent to the Julanda brothers through the intermediary of his Messengers, 'Amr bin al-'As al-Sahmi and Abu Zaid al-Ansari.
"Peace be upon the one who follows the right path! I call you to Islam. Accept my call, and you shall be unharmed. I am God's Messenger to mankind, and the word shall be carried out upon the miscreants. If, therefore, you recognize Islam, I shall bestow power upon you. But if you refuse to accept Islam, your power shall vanish, my horses shall camp on the expanse of your territory and my prophecy shall prevail in your kingdom." [Photograph of the Arabic original (sizes 27K or 772K) and the English text (31K) as it is on display at Sohar Fort, Sultanate of Oman.] http://answering-islam.org.uk/Muhammad/oman.htm >>27 To live life as if you can see Allah. This is the highest of Faith. We all act differently when we know we are being watched. The Muslim should remind himself that all of his actions are being recorded at which he will account for all he has done.<< Allah has a video camera turned on you from the moment you are born, recording everything you do and say, including your visits to the toilet, your bedroom antics. What a life, knowing that a voyeur and his angels are watching and recording your every move. >>28 If you murder a person it is as if you murdered all humanity, If you save a life, it is as if you have saved all humanity<< You cut out the fact that this message is specifically for the Israelites. Read the whole of the verse, it has been quoted here in full many times. >>29.don't steal<< A five-year-old could tell you that. >>30 don't lie<< A four-year-old could tell you this truth. >>31 be kind to those who are on their way to hell<< And displease Allah? >>32 all of the prophets are brothers<< Why limit brotherhood to prophets. So are all humans as descendants of Adam and Eve Just to name a few. The work of the devil? Check YOUR shoulder for him. He'll be there massaging the temples of your logical head.. >>The Bible actually has more violence in it than the Quran. You should check that out.<< That makes the Koran a degree below the Bible in violence. It does not make it a book of peace like the Buddhist scripture. Why don't you adopt Buddhism? Also you wrote: "YOU WILL NOT FIND ONE MUSLIM who says that they Hate Jesus or any of the prophets. WE LOVE ALL OF THEM!!" It is these same prophets you so love who were violent. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
