Greetings Ianus. You have earned your plaudits on history.Reader comment on item: Does Turkey Still Belong in NATO? Submitted by kman (United States), May 14, 2009 at 01:09 I think the Apostle Paul's long sentences pale in comparison to yours. I can get carried away in that realm myself, but being attention deficit, I have a little trouble digesting some of your wing-bangers. I'll give it a shot, though. History has its share of politicians that played multiple games to buy favor and advantage. Man has been playing a gigantic chess game from day one. The various religions including Christianity have had their big time players, but the Christ never played them. I have searched his words intently for any sign of deception or political wrangling. Just isn't there. Some who call themselves Christians may delve there, but he never did. He will sort out the real believers in the end and rewards and punishments will be handed out accordingly. The advantage seekers and short cut takers have weaved throughout history and caught people of all persuasions off guard. As I said, God had it all sorted out before any of them even got started. I think Russia is far more dangerous than the world realizes. They lost a lot when they came to the point of releasing their ex-soviet states. One of those things was cost of maintenance on those soviet states. They are still somewhat crippled but learned one thing from their foray into Georgia - the west is impotent, clueless, and doesn't care enough anymore to pay the costs of holding onto their once dearly bought freedoms. Self-indulgence has weakened us in many venues. The Muslims have momentum behind them plus the threat of their lethal terrorist activities. Even that threat doesn't cover all the bases. The "pr" base is one they are rapidly learning and using to great effect against an ignorant ...oh, man, I keep trying to avoid using the word, but what else can you call a western power bloc that had it all and now gives it away - STUPID!! Man's eternal state. All through his great Word, God keeps re-adjusting man at tremendous cost in time and lives, and man insists on returning to the same slime pit he deeply desires & that Satan is only all to willing to help man return to. Phew! Now, I feel better. Maybe I can carry on with a little more stability, now. Islam will continue to bite its own tail in the west even as it did in Lebanon, but I think less so. Where we continue to get stupider, Islam gradually learns from some of its own past mistakes. The western civilizations keep pointing their mistakes out to them and even they are wising up a bit. They are getting more organized as a solid movement through all kinds of college educated Muslims coming out of the few universities that islam has managed to maintain despite their distaste for the disciplines of education. The very fact that China can't decide whether Russia is an ally or enemy is what willdrive them into similar thrust towards the Middle East. Russia has a lot of cold water ports but has always lusted after a warm water one coming out of the south where they would have a military strategic advantage they don't now have. Putin is a master chess player and doesn't give a fig for integrity. He has power ruthlessly locked up in Russia and will use it without any scruples at all - beyond whatever might garner a little "pr", but I don't think he worries much about "pr", either. He has all the military might he needs. Couple that with the absolute fearlessness to pursue world domination at any cost, plenty of his own oil, and natural gas as a weapon against Eruope, and you can just feel it coming. The ex-Soviet states are just plain feeble and will cow to any aggressiveness Russia throws at them. India, Pakistan, and the Saudis have powerful militaries, but nothing like what China has been building (very quietly). China won't see itself as having much choice anyway. Their thirst for oil is growing exponentially and is creating an almost vacuum that will force them under their own intense momentum to go after the Middle East, especially if Russia makes any move in that direction. They're all playing the anti-Israeli card as an excuse to make some kind of move in that direction. If you can see it, there is a gigantic arrow pointing towards this central part of the world. Call it a vortex or another spacial vacuum. All the evil power bases seem aligned against Israel. They make a handy excuse for some and an outlet for the hatreds built up by their own failures amongst the Muslim nations. God's Word prophecies all of this much better than any mere mortal can lay it out - and I think the latter includes me. I just assemble pieces and put them where they obviously fit. You are much more advanced in the field of details and minutae (sp) than I, but reading man's ever revolving door on history isn't to hard when you throw in God's delineation of it and the future. Gotta go for now. I don't think there is any part of Europe with enough stomach to stave off the hoardes of demented and suffering ...I won't name them.
