The paranoia spreds - indeed the seeds of the orientalist mentality deeply set in the Caucasus' and surrounding environs bespeak of ancient Kievanrus antipathies and the disruptive formative processes that emerged into the high angst issues that formed the Russia seen in repulsion of the attempted influences of Western civilization going back centuries. Catherine the great probably represented the peak when the Orthodoxy of the Russian Church was still trying to examine its relevancy in a world trying to redefine its mission after the interference of Islam in modern religious settings and the recovery of the Catholic dominance is such things, a process still in remedial efforts of trying to be influential in modern terms of secularistic rejection. Of such is the Russian's peripheral ambitions, let alone his thinking that he needs to protect his Russian interests in energy dominance (and personal wealth). War keeps the prices high.......and costly.
