Dr. pipes has brought up excellent points about Obama's Middle East Policy.Reader comment on item: Insight into Obama's Middle East Policy? Submitted by Anne A. (United States), Jan 7, 2009 at 11:10 Dr. pipes has set the wheels in motion for everyone to think about and wonder, ok whats next with Obama's administration. I am wondering why the new President elect is not commenting on support for Israel to defend herself against Hamas and the barage of rocket attacks into Israel's cities for months. He says there is only one president at a time, which is true, (one acting President,) but Mr.Obama will inherit everything the Bush presidency has had to deal with and more on the terrorism front. If i am correct the President- elect visited the Middle East in July, and was in the town of Sderot Israel, and he was able to see the damage done by the missiles and see how the attacks have changed Israeli's lives. Not even Mr. Obama could deny that no other nation would put up with this bombardment of rockets into its cities without a response. Hamas has Controlled Gaza since 2007, and is dedicated to the destruction of Israel. How could words or actions be any more clear to the world, or the new President. He could at least say All nations have a right to defend themselves, instead of keeping silent on an issue that could affect the entire middle east. I am sure we are all wanting answers. I have to say I felt very secure with President Bush. His intentions against terrorism were well stated, as well as the organization of Homeland security and the use of the Patriot act. Many are wondering exactly what Change will take place in 2009! Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
