It is hard to say what he knows and what he pretends to know or what he prefers to ignore and what really guides his actions. And I do suspect that it is not his knowledge (which I wouldn't overestimate) but his deeper personal ambitions and self-interest that are his ruling passions. To gratify them he has already sacrificed much - including the truth and no doubt he is ready to sacrifice even more.

As to " the forces that sustain all extremism", Moslem extremism is unlike any other Western extremisms, it is motivated from deep inner sources, from Moslem religious obsessions and not from "the outside attack from the other" as you imply. If you had some knowledge of Islam's history and its driving forces you would not blame "the other" for what is a normal Islamic terrorism that has made this religion a success. Terror has always been a principal and legitimate tool to spread Islam. It is how Mohammed saved his prophecy by having his opponents killed. It is how the caliphs terrorized the tribes that after Mohammed's death decided to shake off the yoke of Islam. etc. etc. etc.

To believe in "lack of recourse to peaceful means of resolving greivances" in the face of such a phenomenon is to live in political Wonderland. This religion is obsessed with imposing its absolute rule on us by whatever means possible. It can hold out an olive branch, if it sees that this way it can achieve its evil goal of weakening and subjugating us to Islam. But it is war and slavery that are hidden behind this olive branch, not peace!

I have never seen a mass Israeli or American demonstration burning Palestinian effigies, Palestinian flags , devastating Danish shops and shouting death threats to official personalities ... Yet this is the standard "Arab and Moslem" behaviour. So either you are kidding or you have lost any sense of proportion and decency.
