Keith Williams - Islam IS NOT of the Bible, but IT DOES have something in common with ALL RELIGIONS OF HUMAN HISTORYReader comment on item: Insight into Obama's Middle East Policy? Submitted by jennifer solis (United States), Jan 18, 2009 at 01:29 "I am happy to see that you are coming to realize that Islam and Christianity have the same goals and messages." Pardon me, but WHAT ABSOLUTE ROT. You (cleverly, in your estimate) imagine you have found a way to synthesize the two. Allow me a brief, crystal clear delineation of the two. ALL RELIGION throughout human history is based on HUMAN EFFORT to gain approbation of God (or "gods"). EXCEPT Biblical Christianity - which states "salvation IS NOT of yourselves" (Eph. 2:8-9). WE DO NOTHING, and CAN DO NOTHING to impress God (nor gods, nor any other conceived diety, applicable in other religions). "For ALL of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our RIGHTEOUS DEEDS are like a filthy garment." -Isaiah 64:6 Find anything like that in Islam, Keith? How about this one - "For the wages of sin is death, but the FREE GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 6:23 Hello, Keith, are you still with me? How about these - "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved." -Acts 16:31 "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you apart from the law of sin and of death." -Romans 8:1-2 "He who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and DOES NOT COME INTO JUDGEMENT, but has passed out of death into life." -John 5:24 "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who believes in Me shall never die." -John 11:25 Again, sorry to lump your precious Islam with all other religions in human history, but ONLY ONE stands apart. Christianity is based on what Christ, the Son of God, did for us, NOT WHAT WE DO FOR GOD. Now, what did Mohammed do to provide unconditional, unlimited attonement for humanity's sin?
