The "Scientific Miracle" of the Qur'anReader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran Submitted by Lactantius Jr (United Kingdom), Jun 7, 2009 at 11:53 To Mohammad Waqas Raja (upon whom be peace) I greet you in the precious life giving, life saving Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, Son of God, the sinners all-sufficient Saviour, the Prince of Peace, the author and distributor of peace, and I wish for you His peace. Unlike your claims for the scientific miracle of the Qur'an, I don't seek to find modern science in the Bible, and the point of referring to the statistical analysis of the many Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, was to demonstrate just how truly remarkable that cumulative, fulfilled prophecy really is, when mathematical probability analysis is applied to them. I maintain that Muhammad, the prophet of Islam is not prophesied in the Bible, having demonstrated that the Scriptures you presented as referring to Muhammad do nothing of the sort, but have shown that the Bible does indeed record the Lord Jesus Christ prophesying the coming of false prophets, who would deceive many, and with there currently being more than a billion Muslims in the world, and Islam being one of the world's fastest growing religions, this means that Muhammad is the greatest false prophet of all time, and the most obvious fulfillment of Jesus' prophecy. I also maintain that Muhammad didn't make any prophecies ahead of the time of their fulfilment, asserting that his alleged prophetic credentials fail miserably when examined, and I repeat how very telling it is that Shabir Ally, one of Islam's premier debaters, will not accept Sam Shamoun's challenge to debate, made around seven and a half years ago on 25th.November 2001, with Sam saying, "His unwillingness to debate this topic only reinforces our suspicions that Shabir is aware that he cannot win such a debate. I have requested such a debate many times in personal communication with him. He always finds ways to avoid it." Therefore, I am issuing a public challenge to Shabir Ally. Debate me on the credibility of your prophet. http://tinyurl.com/ohhfkn Does it bother you Mohammad, that one of Islam's premier debaters is clearly unwilling to publicly debate Muhammad's alleged prophetic credentials? Now, returning to your claim for the "scientific miracle of the Qur'an," I don't need to spend much time on this, the scientific disaster of Surah 18:86 "revealing" that the sun sets in a muddy spring, absolutely excludes the Qur'an from having any scientific authority whatsoever. It is also very destructive for Muslims such as yourself who use the argument. Setting up science as a greater authority than Allah (pbuh) as it does, it demotes Allah (pbuh), by removing the Qur'an's authority, and as an argument it is relatively easy to demonstrate that the claimed "scientific miracle" of the Qur'an is both weak and dangerous, and as such, I recommend you avoid claiming "scientific miracles" in the Qur'an. You refer to "The Bible, the Qur'an and Science" by Dr. Maurice Bucaille, which contains many inaccuracies, both in regard to the scientific "facts" it presents and in regard to the history of the Christian Scriptures, and in referring to Dr Bucaille, you say "he was a Christian who studied the Qur'an. He later wrote a book 'The Bible, The Qur'an & Science' and confessed that the author of the Qur'an can be no one else besides God, the Creator and Originator of all Creation, and thus embraced Islam." Dr Bucaille was in fact a Roman Catholic, Catholicism at many points being opposed to the gospel of grace and taking a low view of the Bible, and I have no reason or evidence to believe Dr Bucaille was a Christian, where does he say so? There also being no evidence that Dr Bucaille "embraced Islam," and I refer you to the article titled, "Is Dr.Maurice Bucaille a Muslim? http://www.answering-islam.org/Campbell/bucaille.html which concludes with an excerpt dated April 1998 from the catalogue of the Islamic publisher and book distributor Pak Books which says, BUCAILLE, M BIBLE, QUR'AN AND SCIENCE 1996 254 P 5.95 1749 Dr.Bucaille's study of scientific information in scriptures gave him high regard for Qur'an and recognition of contradictions in Christian scriptures. Yet he remained a Christian, but deeply respectful of Islam. An invaluable work! Being in Pakistan, you can readily check Pak Books out, and see what their up-to-date catalogue has to say about Dr Bucaille and his book. Dr William Campbell wrote a Christian response to Dr Bucaille's book, and here are details of it, "The Qur'an and the Bible in the Light of History & Science Dr William Campbell Second Edition, 356pp., Middle East Resources, 2002ISBN 1-881085-03-01 It is online in various languages, the English language edition being at, http://www.answering-islam.org/Campbell/contents.html When quoting the Qur'an, I do so, not because it has any authority for me, it doesn't, I quote it assuming that as a Muslim, it will be your absolute authority, because it is said to be the book of Allah (pbuh) 26:192-195 and Allah (pbuh) is said to be the source of the Bible Surah 3:3, the Qur'an saying there is no distinction between the Bible and the Qur'an 2:136; 3:3 and that none can change Allah's words Surah 6:34; 10:64 Muslims are told to ask Christians any questions they have Surah 21:7 with even Muhammad being told to ask the Christians if he didn't understand Surah 10:94 Muslims are told to believe in the Bible, with those who disbelieve having "wandered far astray" 4:136 Muslims are told not to argue with Christians, but to believe in what was revealed to them Surah 29:46 there being "guidance and light" in the gospel, with people of the gospel being commanded to judge by it Surah 5:46-47 I do judge by it, standing fast by what I read there, having no guidance without standing fast on it Surah 5:68 The New Testament is the primary source of reliable information about the Lord Jesus Christ and I commend it to you, truly it is "The Book of Life" about Him who is the Lord of Life. With kind regards and best wishes Lactantius Jr
