to richardReader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran Submitted by tariq (United Arab Emirates), Mar 12, 2006 at 11:59 "How can you say house flies don't carry diseases? Let me educate you on that. The House Fly is often a carrier of diseases, such as typhoid fever, cholera, dysentery, and anthrax. The fly transmits diseases by carrying disease organisms onto food. It picks up disease organisms on its leg hairs or eats them and then regurgitates them onto food (in the process of liquefying solid food). The house fly and other types of "filth flies" can become nuisance pests, but also are important for their potential to harm humans and animals. House flies, for example, can spread diseases such as food poisoning and dysentery. Flies, including stable flies and mosquitoes (which are also classified as flies, or Diptera), can inflict painful bites while feeding on the blood of humans and other animals, and some species transmit disease. The habits of filth flies favor the spread of bacteria and other disease-causing organisms. Filth flies often feed and lay eggs on garbage, manure and carrion before contaminating human foods and food preparation surfaces by landing on them. When feeding, house flies regurgitate their stomach contents onto food to liquefy it before ingesting it. They also may contaminate food and surfaces by defecating on them." Why is it that the fly does not die itself of all the diseases? Dr. Nabîh Da`ish ran an experiment at the King `Abd al-`Aziz University in Ryadh to test the Hadith which you have quoted. In this experiment he created 40 bacterial cultures from samples of sterilized fluid. 10 of them had a fly dipped into it without being immersed, 10 had the fly immersed once, 10 had the flies emersed twice, and the rest had the flies immersed thrice. The results: Bacterial colonies thrived in the first set but were stunted and depleted in the second, more in the third, and most in the fourth set. (Ghyath Hasan al-Ahmad in his book "al-Tibb al-Nabawi fi Daw' al-`Ilm al-Hadith") "The flies were given some of the cultured microbes for certain diseases. After some time the germs died and no trace was left of them while a germ-devouring substance formed in the flies - bacteriophages. If a saline solution were to be obtained from these flies it would contain bacteriophages able to suppress four kinds of disease-inducing germs and to benefit immunity against four other kinds." (Rockefeller Foundation's Journal of Experimental Medicine (1927) Vol. 43 p. 1037) "These fly microbiota are bacteriophagic or "germ-eating". Bacteriophages are viruses of viruses. They attack viruses and bacteria. They can be selected and bred to kill specific organisms. The viruses infect a bacterium, replicate and fill the bacterial cell with new copies of the virus, and then break through the bacterium's cell wall, causing it to burst. The existence of similar bacteria-killing mechanisms in two bacteriophages suggests that antibiotics for human infections might be designed on the basis of these cell wall-destroying proteins." (Science 292 (June 2001) p. 2326-2329) "Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, " whoever cleans his private parts with stones should do so with odd numbers. Many times in medina, water was scarce. "Bukhari:V7B71N590 "The climate of Medina did not suit some people so the Prophet ordered them to drink camel urine as a medicine." "A group from `Ukl came to the Prophet (upon him peace) and stayed in the Suffa. They found Madîna noxious so they said, "Messenger of Allâh, we need milk!" He said, "I have none to give you except if you catch up with the camels of the Messenger of Allâh." They went to them and drank from their milk and urine until they were cured and regained their weight." B [hadith no. 6306] its not always the urine, but also the milk. some medicines like tylenol have an ingredient called PREMARIN(PREgnant MARe urIN) If a mares urine can be used in a medicine, isnt it possible that a camels urine could be usefull as well? Drinking of camels is not COMMANDED in Islam, but if a person is suffering from an illness which can be cured by urine, then drinking it is allowed. Bukhari Volume 7, Book 71, Number 592: Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "There is healing in black cumin for all diseases except death." According to dictionary.com, black cumin is "An annual Eurasian herb (Nigella sativa) having bluish-white flowers and pungent black seeds used as a seasoning in Asian cuisines." (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=black%20cumin) what does it have to do with personal hygeine? "Mustapha do you believe a man can get 100 women pregnant at once in one night? Well I don't think you do but your prophet certainly did. Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 74i: Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Once Solomon, son of David said, '(By Allah) Tonight I will have sexual intercourse with one hundred (or ninety-nine) women each of whom will give birth to a knight who will fight in Allah's Cause.' On that a (i.e. if Allah wills) but he did not say, 'Allah willing.' Therefore only one of those women conceived and gave birth to a half-man. By Him in Whose Hands Muhammad's life is, if he had said, "Allah willing', (he would have begotten sons) all of whom would have been knights striving in Allah's Cause."" What is harder to believe? this hadith or an ass talking?(Numbers 22:27-28) Some more science: Genesis chapter 1(RSV):- 1.In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2: The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.(waters? how? even the light has not been created) 3: And God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. Ok so nowlight has been created. but read the verse 16: 16: And God made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also. How can light be created before the its sources, the sun, the stars and the moon?(the moon does not give off light, yet its called the a light) In the verses between(3-16) you see that vegetation has been created: 11: And God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, upon the earth." And it was so. 12: The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13: And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. How can vegetation be created without the Sun?
