To Tariq: The Quaran's and hadith fake scienceReader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran Submitted by Richard the Lion heart (United States), Feb 18, 2006 at 16:21 Dear Tariq,As you might know by now, I cannot pass up an occasion to show you that not only was Muhammad a prophet but also a "scientist". Yes we know he was'nt literate but sometimes absurdities can sound like science. So please read on. Let's read this passage from the Koran about Alexander the great. "Until when he reached THE PLACE WHERE THE SUN SET, he found IT GOING DOWN INTO a black sea, and found by it a people. We said: O Zulqarnain! either give them a chastisement or do them a benefit… Until when he reached the land of the rising of the sun, he found IT RISING on a people to whom We had given no shelter from It" Surah 18:86, 90 Shakir We all know the sun does not go down any where. But Allah or is it Muhammad thought otherwise. Let's make a little analysis. Since the earth is a globe, and the sun millions of miles away from the earth (150 million kilometers on average over the year), the setting of the sun always appears to take place far away, somewhere on or behind the horizon. In phenomenological language it may still be acceptable to speak of "the place where the sun sets" when it is done from the view point of someone who is far away from this place. For example, a traveler could say that he was moving in direction of "where the sun is setting." However, the Quran goes beyond what is possible in phenomenological language when it states that Zul-Qarnain reached the place where the sun sets, i.e. the Quran is speaking of a human being who traveled to the place of the setting of the sun. Such a statement is wrong in any kind of language, since such a place does not exist on this earth. This is a serious error that was introduced into the Quran because the author mistook a legend to be literal and historical truth. In this Hadith Muhammad explains to one of his companions how the sun will one day rise from the west. This is Interesting stuff I'm telling you. Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 421: Narrated Abu Dharr: The Prophet asked me at sunset, "Do you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "It goes (i.e. travels) till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. And that is the interpretation of the Statement of Allah: ‘And the sun Runs its fixed course for a term (decreed). That is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing.'" (36.38) Do you think the sun will one day rise in the west Tariq? How can you possibly believe Muhammad was sent by God. Please tell me. You mention how the Islamic civilization was a great civilization from 800 to 1600. You are right, although they attempted some foolish things (i.e the destruction of Christianity) but they failed miserably. However they did produce some mathematicians and philosophers. At that point one has to ask what happened to the Islamic world. How come today many muslim countries are so backward. If they have a scientific mind set how can they believe in someone like Muhammad and live under sharia barbarism? Tell me Tariq, if the Islamic world is the source of modern day technology and industry why do they lag behind the West? Let me answer my own question. In the 17th century when the islamic empire began its decline, a movement called the renaissance was taking place in Europe. I'm sure you know what the renaissance is? Thanks to the renaissance, Europe free itself of religious theocracy. The renaissance opened the way for Europe to become the sit of a scientific and industrial revolution. Mean while islamic countries were still under the yoke of mad mullahs and unfortunately they still are. From the 17th century onward, the Islamic world was playing catch up to the West. The Islamic world never had an age of advanced science and philosophical enlightment. And for the sake of the muslim world, I hope they are not using the Koran as their guide to science and technology.
