To Rayes: Science in the Koran???Reader comment on item: Ban Islam? Submitted by Plato (India), Nov 4, 2007 at 09:55 Rayes, you write to infidel: >>In 1925, an American astronomer by the name of Edwin Hubble, provided observational evidence that all galaxies are receding from one another, which implies that the universe is expanding. The expansion of the universe is now an established scientific fact. This is what Al-Quraan says regarding the nature of the universe: With the power and skill Did We construct The Firmament: For it is We Who create The vastness of Space. [Al-Quraan 51:47] The Arabic word msin is correctly translated as expanding it, and it refers to the creation of the expanding vastness of the universe. …..<< Mr Rayes, you are from Saudi Arabia and you speak the language of your Prophet. So when you claim that 51: 47 is referring to the expansion of the universe I will accept your word for it. Now science has the curious habit of overturning theories from time to time. Can you be absolutely certain that the next Einstein will not prove that we happen to be in a part of the universe that is expanding and the greater universe is at a standstill. Also if you have been reading books on cosmology you will recall that the universe might also end up in a big crunch. What will people who live when the universe begins to contract think of the Koran's claim of the an expanding universe? Let us also look at some of the other ‘scientific' claims of the Koran. It claims that stars fall 018.086 YUSUFALI: Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness." The sun does not do any setting. It is the earth's motion that makes it seem so. If you told a 10th grade girl about the sun setting in a pool of water she would start rolling on the floor laughing. 036.040 YUSUFALI: It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law). The moon is a satellite of the earth and revolves along with it around the sun. So where is the question of the sun catching up with the moon? This is just 7th century science on display. The ancients had the illusion that the sun and moon are two bodies ‘swimming' in space. 067.005 YUSUFALI: And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire. The stars are in the lowest heavens? In another verse the Koran says the moon is among the heavens, which would place it above the stars. And what does the Koran mean when it says the stars are there to be used (by Allah?) to drive away the devils? This is science?? 081.002 YUSUFALI: When the stars fall, losing their lustre; Stars fall? Where can they fall to? To the earth? 016.068-69 YUSUFALI: And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations; That 10th grade school girl will tell you that bees don't eat all the produce (other translators says fruit) of the earth but only nectar and pollen from flowers. How come Allah did not know this elementary fact? 086.006-07 YUSUFALI: He is created from a drop emitted- Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: Where does science say sperm proceeds from Mr. Rayes? What does Allah think our testes are for then? Seriously, Rayes, will you teach the science in the Koran to your children??? It is plainly obvious that the science in the Koran is outdated by 14 centuries. >>Mr. infidel, can you imagine what the above words from 14th centuries back. Yes, that is Holy quran, the miracles of miracle. I am challenging you millions of times it is from God almightly... Oh my lord..... Allah<< The real miracle is that Muslims despite all the evidence are not able to see that Koranic science is an illusion created by people like Maurice Bucaille, Haroon Yahya and some clueless Egyptians Muslims. >>Islam is a total submission and worship to only Allah-almighty/only-God/our-Creator, Creator of universe, Self-sufficient- Master, whom all creatures need, He begets not, nor was He Begotten, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, 100%-Perfect, Eternal and there is none Co-equal or comparable unto Him-(Allah).<< You sound very much like a king's subject singing praises of his master. You say He begets not, but what about the universe? Who begot it. Begetting need not only be in the sexual sense, it can also be asexual. Why did He create the universe if he is self-sufficient unless He felt a need to create it. And for this almighty to feel a need is a weakness in His almightiness. >> A voluntary relationship/submission to our Creator/Sustainer Allah in His Oneness with obedience (of His commands-Qur'an and teaching of Prophet Muhammad PBUH), and denouncing polytheism and its adherents to gain a peaceful/successful life in this world and Hereafter gain Paradise as well as protection from Hell-fire.<< A voluntary submission? Have you read your Koran, Rayes? Where does it say that if you do not submit to Allah you will not be toasted in His hell forever. Threatening people with all kinds of tortures if they do not submit is asking to voluntarily submit? You and your god want polytheists denounced to gain eternal bliss. It sounds funny having to denounce something to gain paradise. What is Allah's grouse against polytheists. Can they harm Him by worshipping many gods? If one Allah can pop up out of nowhere what prevents other Allahs from popping up all over the place? >> None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Muhammed is the Messenger of Allah<< Immediately after saying one's relationship with Allah should be voluntary you now say none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and one has to accept that Muhammed is His messenger. Don't you find that ridiculous? >>Nothing else is worthy of worship; not stones, statues, crosses, tombs, the sun, the moon, stars, movie stars, musician, athletes, Prophets (from any religion), saints, priests, temples, animals, religious scholars or any creature. If worship anything other than Allah-almighty, is the only sin that would never be forgiven on the Day of Judgment<< Why is nothing else worthy of worhip? Your Allah seems terrified that creatures he created will worship somebody or something else. If I say that I see the spirit of Allah in a piece of black stone what is so sinful about it? >>If worship anything other than Allah-almighty, is the only sin that would never be forgiven on the Day of Judgment<< Does this mean that if I am mass murderer Allah could still forgive me but if I never committed any sin but bowed towards a piece of black stone He will torture me? >>The only times in which Islamic believers are allowed to take up arms are when they are defending their own lives and the lives of their people. When they See the weak being oppressed in acts of tyranny, and when they are prohibited from practicing their religion. Aside from these circumstances, there is no legitimate fighting in Islam.<< But your Koran says exactly the opposite, my dear Rayes. Read the following verses. What you have said directly contradicts what your holy book tells you. Bin Laden, Zawahiri, Mullah Omar and your Caliphs were all just following Allah's orders to go out and fight the infidels. 9:29 SHAKIR: Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection. 61:4 SHAKIRSurely Allah loves those who fight in His way in ranks as if they were a firm and compact wall. 4:74 SHAKIR: Therefore let those fight in the way of Allah, who sell this world's life for the hereafter; and whoever fights in the way of Allah, then be he slain or be he victorious, We shall grant him a mighty reward. 9:41SHAKIR: Go forth light and heavy, and strive hard in Allah's way with your property and your persons; this is better for you, if you know 6:11 SHAKIR: You shall believe in Allah and His Messenger, and struggle hard in Allah's way with your property and your lives; that is better for you, did you but know!. 61:12 SHAKIR: He will forgive you your faults and cause you to enter into gardens, beneath which rivers flow, and goodly dwellings in gardens of perpetuity; that is the mighty achievement; 9:29 is a clear command to fight those who do not believe Allah. Not just to defend yourself. Do you consider that non-belief in Allah is tyranny? 61:4 tells you that Allah LOVES those who fight for him. 4:74 Allah tells you to sell this world's life for the hereafter and the seller (suicide bomber?) is promised a mighty reward. 6:11 You are told the great thing to do to win Allah's favour is to fight with your property and your lives. 6:12 Read this verse a few times. Allah tells you he will forgive you your sins for struggling (fighting) with your property and lives. You can commit all kinds of crimes during your life time but if you fight for your Allah you will be forgiven. What a deal! What a mighty achievement!!!! Khalid bin Walid the Sword of Islam will be in paradise on judgment day won't he? You must have read of the cruelties he practiced in his conquests, which even Mohammed deplored, but since he fought for Allah, he is assured of paradise. Now tell us that if read in context these verses mean exactly the opposite of what they say. Allah being a great deceiver, as He Himself claims, has managed to deceive all those poor Muslims into blowing themselves up along with innocent people. regards Plato Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
