Islam Denounces TerrorismReader comment on item: Ban Islam? Submitted by Keith Williams (United States), Oct 14, 2008 at 23:12 Hi Donvan, Peace be upon you, We are all brothers by blood. I called you brother because you are a man and we all came from Adam and Eve and also in the Kingdom of God all believers will be one brotherhood so we might as well get used to that. There is and will always be one ideology and religion and that is God's. It would be better if you did not use the word mythology when we are talking about religion. Although myth doesn't mean that something is false it could look as if you are putting a negative connotation on that religion. This may cause confusion and offense, because of the popular use of "myth" to mean "falsehood". So I suggest in all due respect to use the word religions when talking religion and mythology for secular topics. Islam doesn't advocate violence toward Jews, Christians, etc. etc, I dont know what you mean by finding me suspect? O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for your allies: they are but allies of one another and whoever of you allies himself with them becomes, verily, one of them; behold, God does not guide people who are unjust. (Quran 5:51) This verse is often quoted to show that Islam is intolerant. Quran is a complete book of guidance and while studying various issues it should be kept in mind that a particular issue may be discussed over several chapters or several verses in the same chapter. A complete understanding can only be achieved by understanding the whole issue as presented over all the verses and chapters and not by looking at only part of the Quran. God specifically warns us against doing just that, upholding part of the Quran while disregarding the rest. .. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do you reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life? - and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For God is not unmindful of what ye do. (Quran 2:85) Let us look at some other verses about this issue. The following two verses regulate relations with any people, regardless of faith: As for such [of the unbelievers] as do not fight against you on account of [your] faith, and neither drive you forth from your homelands, God does not forbid you to show them kindness and to behave towards them with full equity: for, verily, God loves those who act equitably. (Quran 60:8) And yet you can not see how those in whose hearts there is disease vie with one another for their good will (the hostile Jews and Christians), saying [to themselves], "We do fear lest a change of fortune bring us disaster." But God may well bring about good fortune [for the believers] or any [other] event of His own devising, whereupon those [waverers] will be smitten with remorse for the thoughts which they had secretly harboured within themselves- (Quran 5:52) Chapter 5 Verse 57 of the Quran makes it clear again, who are not to be taken as friends; O you who believe! take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,- whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but remain conscious of God, if you are (truly) believers. (Quran 5:57) God teaches us throughout the Quran that there are righteous Jews and Christians. As such there is no prohibition for Muslims to be friends with Jews, Christians or people of any other faith who are of good character. Quranic verses referring to the righteous Jews and Christians: Verily, those who have attained to faith [in this divine writ], as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and the Christians, and the Sabians - all who believe in God and the Last Day and do righteous deeds-shall have their reward with their Sustainer; and no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve. (Quran 2:62) Here is a very good website for Qur'an search and learning Qur'an recitation or just to listen to beautiful recitations of the Qur'an: The following verse from the Quran capsulates this issue: O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things). (Quran 49:13) I am sorry that there are some like the Taliban that are advocating violence. That is no doubt and like I said we are bringing them tp justice God willing. But to consider those Muslims who are not advocating violence as the same is not right. Don't lump all in the same basket because some are doing a bad thing doesn't mean that all are. Doesn't that sound reasonable. Of the 1 billion or more Muslims in the world how many are Taliban? Not that many. 7000-11000. If you count all the Afghan people in Afghanistan 31,889,923 (July 2007 est.) That is only 3% of all Muslims. Now what percent of that is Taliban (7000-11000)? That is well under 1%. Do you see how unreasonable it would be to take this small number and say that all Muslims are advocating violence? We have very good Muslim citizens here in our country as well as other countries in the world I agree with that Byzantine quote that Muhammad didn't bring anything new. It was new for the Arabs because he was the only prophet from them. But change the inhumanity and evil to justice and peace for the believers. Islam never claimed to bring anything new. It is a reminder and a warning. The same message thru all the prophets. Muhammad is the seal of the prophets and the last one. Sure, the unbelivers will feel wronged and inhumane and evil but they brought inhumanity and evil on their ownselves as they are roasting in hell after the day of judgment of the last day. Muslims want all believers and themselves to live in peace and contentment, treating each other with tolerance, friendship, respect, and compassion. Islam does distinguish between the righteous and the wicked and those who violate God's command which is what all believers believe. This is in all religions of the world to include Christianity. When Jesus returns leading his army of believers to slay the anit-Christ and his evil forces in order to bring peace and justice will you join Jesus or the anti-Christ. I plan to be with the believers. The anti-Christ will be lying about bringing peace and deceiving all the leaders of the nations but really bringing oppression and death. Him and those who follow with Satan will be hewn down and cast in the fire of hell. What if Jesus came back as a Muslim would you not become a Muslim and submit to God's will? peace be upon you, Keith
