Motke: Arabic Lahma/Lahm! Meat? Or is it meal and or bread?

If you check Q2:174 the text tells us about Lahm al-Khanzeer or the Lahm of the pig

However, the word meat in Arabic comes in two forms:

1. لحمة or Lahma (notice the Ta marbouta at the end) which is more likely than not from Syriac ܠܚܡܐ or Lakhma

2. In the above verse we have the word لحم or Lahm as in Beit Lahm or بيت لحم (house of bread)

Here is Lisan al-'Arab and the word Lahm but it would be a stretch of imagination to read it as Ibn Manzur is saying that the word Lahm means meal or bread

Ibn Kathir who was Syrian and seems to have been very knowledgeable in Syriac did not mention that the word Lahm also means bread or meal as far as I know!

However, the meaning of Syriac ܠܚܡܐ could also be meal. So is the Qur'an talking about meal of pig's meat? And why would the author of the Qur'an seems to tell us that Lahm al-Khanzeer means pig's meat? We will never know!

Notice that meat in Syriac is ܒܣܪܐ Bisra compare with Hebrew Basar (correct me if I'm wrong) but why would it be different in Arabic? Puzzling indeed

Very true. However, the "a" following the letter Ya is a short vowel in Arabic, and can be read as Yit or a kasra and not a fatha and the word would be yitmarradu and this is a common present tense prefix in Arabic

This is very true however, yitgaddal is present tense! No?
