I find it amazing how the author ignores continual evidence that the Arab world is drifting away from Israel in symbolic but significant ways. An example. The emergence of an Imam who addressed audiences in Mecca a week or two ago, speaking in favor of annihilating the Jewish people. This comes two years after KSA's imams were talking about Al Quds not being in Jerusalem, and the rights of the Jewish people to the land of Israel. And just a month after an Imam known for speaking about reconciliation with Jews, addressed the Hajj. At the same time the Sauds notably attacked Israel's most recent, very limited operation against PIJ in Gaza, and the UAE joined in on the fun at the UNSC, in a remarkable shift from its actions a year ago during a much more intensive war in Gaza, during which Emirati representatives penned an editorial on Newsweek that was more effective in describing the history of the emergence of Hamas rulership in Gaza, than anything Israel's Foreign Ministry was saying at the time.
One cannot help but observe the consequence of a lethal combination of Israeli weakness now, and American government hostility to any Arab state that aligns openly with Israel. Words aside, that radar system that the author praised a month or two ago, has come to nothing it seems. And DoD reports confirm that contrary to any suggestion of establishing alliance, the Sec Def is systematically lowering the status of all American military envoys to the region. There is no "Arab NATO" on the horizon, and the inclusion of Islamist Qatar may well have been enough of a disincentive for KSA, UAE, Egypt and others, to believe it was of any substantial significance. It's fascinating how Biden's trip to the ME immediately sparked a wave of declarations of Arab states that were previously aligning with Israel, seeking to make amends with Tehran. All of this has ramifications for "Israeli victory," as does the dialogue in the halls of DC. The fact that this registers nary a bad word, has an impact.
