Iran in the context of Russia (think of what Prussian Bismark would have done)Reader comment on item: Spelling Out Israel Victory Submitted by Robert (United States), Sep 26, 2022 at 10:58 Dear Dr. Daniel Pipes, Until very recently, I did not think of your term Victory in military terms. But that was because, as I now realize, the conditions for War were not ripe for Israel. But now they are right. Accordingly, Israel's "war between wars" should come to an end and a victorious (hopefully final) war should start (by Israel). (1) More American Jews should switch from being Democrats and become Republicans. One Palestinian American woman journalist was killed in a riot against Israel and Democratic Senator Leahy (sic?) and half of the rest of the Democratic are considering de-funding the budget for Israel's defense; in other words, these Americans are ready to put Israel in the same Category, journalistic-ally speaking, as Russia, Iran, and Turkey. (2) Israel's greatest threat, and therefore enemy, is Iran. And Iran's most dangerous strategic hold is in Syria where there is a military balance of control over the government of Syria shared by Iran and Russia. It happens to be an ideal time for Putin, and the Ayatollah to loose Syria. If the government in Syria now happens to fall, because of the loss of its leader, Iran and Syria will need to fill in the gap with military resource at a time when both the peoples of Iran and Russia are in the streets of their towns, cities and provenances rioting. And the world happens to be preoccupied with the "special military operation" by Russia in Ukraine. So there will be less focus on Israel in how the "occupation" treats the Palestinians. (3) If or when Assad falls from power in Syria, Hezbollah will need to fill the gap. This will cause Hezbollah to be further weakened in its hold on Lebanon where the greatest front directly on Israel border is armed with 150,000 enemy missiles, and countless Iranian drones. So this is a good time for Israel to wipe out, assuming it can, this stockpile. Otherwise Israel will need to wait about 2 years when Israel's laser defense system will make these obsolete. (4) If hostilities in the North of Israel develop, Syria's further refugees should be made to take refuge in their own, immediate, "Culture zone," meaning Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan; and after that, the next "ideal" place is Turkey. But the most hospitable place in this zone is, obviously, the Palestinian-majority land of Jordan. (5) If Palestinian hostilities break out in the South, Gaza, an "opportunity" should be made available for the depopulation of Gaza; that includes opening the maritime blockade, and boats should be available so Gazans can be welcomed buy Turkey. But also, a military and diplomatic way should be found for Egypt to absorb as many Gazans as wish to flee. (6) Israel should not side with Ukraine against Russia. But Israel should threaten Putin with doing so if he goes against Israel in it's war against Iran, Syria, and Lebanon's Hezbollah. Israel should "encourage' Russia to compete further against Shia Iran, and "create" a vacuum for Sunnis, which means primarily, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey. Saudis are now the mortal enemies of Iran which funds Yemen in its war against Saudi Arabia as well as most of the rest of the oil-rich Gulf states, w of which have already made real peace with Israel thanks in part to Republican President Trump. Egypt, one must recall, was once a part of the United Arab Republic which included Syria. So Egypt, historically, and culturally, is very close to Syria. And there's Turkey which also is a "natural enemy" of Iran and now relatively close to the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt. Recall the Arab tribal (Orientalist?) saying: "me and my cousins against the word; me and my brothers against my cousins." Now I am, more or less arbitrarily, stopping this outline of a strategy for an Israel military Victory. I invite your readers to elaborate further this strategy, as well as add to it. And I have deliberately omitted the environmental, economic and financial dimensions, such as Global Warming (Climate Change), Energy (Oil and Gas), Agriculture (Agro-Tech), Water (Desalination), and Money (the Arab Gulf states). And as I said before, although I'm a Secularist, it does appear as if Providence is on Israel's side, and so is Time. Was it really God who put Obama in Office so that he would be followed by Trump? Recall that the first trip that Trump took was to Saudi Arabia and the Abrahamic Accords took hold. Although I do personally believe that women should have the choice of Motherhood and therefore the right to choose to abort, I do not see an alternative leader yet among the Republicans who could replace "The Donald." But maybe only he (through Him) can put Putin in his war-less place? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
