Dave!
You are not thinking about reality. Israel has to attain Victory over the whole world; it is not at War merely with the Palestinian Arabs. You also overlook, particularly, the new world of Sanctions, like the BDS.
Israel does not have this simple directly militant option as you suggestion, and you are inpatient (something Xi possesses). I Imagine Israel needs its enemies to keep it on its toes. The Jews in the Diaspora are destined to marry non-Jews and vanish as a nation. So Antisemitism to drive some of them to emigrate to Israel. It seems that all this is the work of Providence. If you read the Torah (what the Christians call the Old Testament) you will get a better view of how Providence operates.
I am Secular, but I cannot find any other simple explanation. Look how different things are for Iran and Ukraine; in Iran, all that is required is for the Iranian majority People to prevail over the Theocratic Regime; in the case of Ukraine, a military Victory over the Russian Federation only requires the re-Conquest of all its lost territories. Israel, on the other hand, is faced with the dilemma of what to do with the Palestinian Arab cohort all over the place, and, consequently, how to define its borders. Morally, Israel is incapable of Germany's Final Solution, and everyone knows that, and depends on that; but it is also not capable of Population Transfer which the whole world now considers illegal under International Law.
Israel has no Simple Solution. But it is winning over time. Time is on the side of the Jews in Israel; it is not on the side of the Palestinians. And the Palestinians seem destined: not to miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity, as Abba Eban observed a while ago.
