Hi Prashant,
Thank you for this post and the one before it.
Imagine a world where:
People casually discuss the existence of moderate Buddhists. And casually refer to a large part of the map as the Buddhist world.
The pope, before a crowd in St. Peter's square, yells that the flag of Catholicism will someday fly over the White House.
The Dalai Lama leads a cheering crowd in chants of "Death to America."
Priests and rabbis have their own militias.
The pope offers two million dollars to anyone who murders the author of The Da Vinci Code. A popular songwriter converts to Catholicism, changes his name to Giuseppe Turin and publicly supports the Pope's edict.
Mormons attack and bomb a Broadway theater that is performing The Book of Mormon. Our leaders quickly warn against any sort of Mormon backlash. A group of moderate Mormons is invited to the White House to join the President in prayer.
Difficult to imagine that world, isn't it? But change a few details, it gets easier.
The simple truth is exactly as you say: "The world must insist on treating Muslims and Islam with the exact same standard with which other people and religions are treated." Such straightforward common sense, one would think it should just go without saying. Why is THAT difficult to imagine?
