"A tale of two halves"Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued Submitted by Lactantius Jr (United Kingdom), Oct 9, 2006 at 09:49 All the ayat (verses) quoted by Hamilton, are taken from Surah 2, "Al-Baqarah" ‘revealed' when Muhammad and his band of Muslims were relatively small and militarily weak, and whilst the Qur'an does initially state that Muslims and others are to live amicably with each other, this teaching is abrogated (cancelled, annulled, set aside) by later verses, when Muhammad and his Muslims were more numerous and more powerful militarily, which state that Islam is to be "shown" to people of other faiths, who, if they refuse to acknowledge, accept and follow it, are then are to be slain (suras 9:5, 47:5, and 8:39 among others). These abrogate all the Surah's quoted by Hamilton, Surah ("Book") 9 being the last, and therefore most authoritative Surah "revealed," and here is what 9:5 says (Abdullah Yusuf Ali):- "But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." Initially, Muhammad sought to convince the Jews he was a prophet of the true and living God, he didn't threaten them, and it was at this time that ayat 256 from Surah 2 was "revealed," which is often duplicitously quoted by Muslims seeking to demonstrate Islam's supposed tolerance:- "Let there be no compulsion in religion............................." (Abdullah Yusuf Ali) but see what happens with the passage of time, and the Jews refusal to accept Muhammad's prophetic credentials:- "The Religion before Allah is Islam (submission to his Will): Nor did the People of the Book dissent therefrom, except through envy of each other, after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the Signs of Allah, Allah is swift in calling to account." Surah 3:19 "If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good)." Surah 3:85 "Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah; that which hath been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which hath been (partly) eaten by a wild animal; unless ye are able to slaughter it (in due form); that which is sacrificed on stone (altars); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows: that is impiety. This day have those who reject faith given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, Allah is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." Surah 5:3 "Ye are the best nation that hath been raised up unto mankind: ye command that which is just, and ye forbid that which is unjust, and ye believe in Allah. And if they who have received the scriptures had believed, it had surely been the better for them: there are believers among them, but the greater part of them are transgressors. They shall not hurt you, unless with a slight hurt; and if they fight against you, they shall turn their backs to you, and they shall not be helped. They are smitten with vileness wheresoever they are found; unless they obtain security by entering into a treaty with Allah, and a treaty with men; and they draw on themselves indignation from Allah, and they are afflicted with poverty. This they suffer, because they disbelieved the signs of Allah, and slew the prophets unjustly; this, because they were rebellious, and transgressed." Surah 3:109-111 Why is it, that the violence between Muslim and Jew is so persistent and intractable? see what the Covenant of Hamas says:- "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it" ("The Martyr," Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory). http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/mideast/hamas.htm and see the words of Muhammad recorded in the Sahi Hadith of Bukhari and Muslim:- Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.' " —Sahih Bukhari 4.52.176 Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him." —Sahih Bukhari 4.52.177 I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "The Jews will fight with you, and you will be given victory over them so that a stone will say, 'O Muslim! There is a Jew behind me; kill him!' " —Sahih Bukhari 4.56.791 Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: You will fight against the Jews and you will kill them until even a stone would say: Come here, Muslim, there is a Jew (hiding himself behind me) ; kill him. —Sahih Muslim 41.6981 and hear the words spoken by Muhammad during his last sermon in Mecca on 7th.March 632 AD:- "I am leaving you with the Book of Allah (the QUR'AN), and my SUNNAH (the life style and the behavioural mode of the Prophet), if you follow them you will never go astray." and here is what the Qur'an says about Muhammad "the exemplar" "Ye have indeed in the Apostle of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah." Surah 33:21 (Abdullah Yusuf Ali) "And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character." Surah 68:4 (Hilali-Khan) I have quoted some truly appalling words Hamilton, but please don't blame me, I didn't write them, but have quoted them to demonstrate the mandate contained in their most authoritative writings, that Muslims have for violence against Jews.
