I'm really glad that you're interested in our religion.

In verses 2:190,191 and 9:14 Allah says about people who started and WERE BEING in war with muslims. So that muslims could fight against them. Otherwise kafirs would've killed all the muslims including Muhammed(pbuh).

In surah 2:16 Allah refers to fake muslims who formally accepted Islam, but don't believe.
