Islamism - A Militant Theology!Reader comment on item: Study the Koran? Submitted by Mike Ramirez (United States), Jan 20, 2004 at 21:23 While many "moderate" Muslims sincerely seek peace and reconciliation with people of other religions, the extreme fundamentalist groups of Islam, such as the Wahhabi sect, seek strict adherence to the Islamic teachings as found in the Qur'an and Ahadith (sayings of their prophet, Muhammad.) Such teachings do call for "jihad" against all cultures and regimes until Islam becomes the exclusive religion of the world. Interestingly it may seem that the military commands were written for action against people during the seventh century Arabic rule by Muhammad, however, the commands are still being applied to this day and age.The following examples show how Hamas, one of the "Militant" Islamic groups, is using their religion to justify and perpetrate their terrorist actions: Excerpts from Hamas Charter: Article Eight: "Allah is its target; the Prophet is its model, the Koran its constitution: Jihad is its path and death for the sake of Allah is the loftiest of its wishes." Article Thirteen, Paragraph 4: "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad." Article Fifteen, Paragraph 2: "It is necessary to instill in the minds of the Moslem generations that the Palestinian problem is a religious problem, and should be dealt with on this basis." Source: http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/mideast/hamas.htm Additionally, Osama bin Laden is one to also use the Islamic religion as a unifying catalyst to organize terror cells throughout the world. "By God's grace, we have formed with many other Islamic groups and organizations in the Islamic world a front called the International Islamic Front to do jihad against the crusaders and Jews." – Osama bin Laden. ( Source: Transcript of a 1998 Al Qaeda video - released by CNN, Aug. 20, 2002 ) Perhaps it is that Militant Islamic groups may actually have "non-religious" goals as an ulterior motive - but they certainly make good use of Islam to make it appear that they are carrying out the wishes of their god, Allah.
