The Sahih International Translation gets an FReader comment on item: Study the Koran? Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), May 14, 2017 at 11:59 Dr Pipes Notice that if you google a Quranic verse your first choice will be Sahih International translation. However, is the Sahih International a good translation of what the Quran really says without any contamination from the Sira or the Hadith? In-order to answer this question I will examine the following verses and see what the translation provided to the verse 1. Check Quran 21:107 and it is a very important verse in the Quran and it says وماارسلناك الارحمة للعالمين This is Sahih's translation "And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds". https://quran.com/21/107 However, O Muhammad is not in the text! And one strike against this translation 2. If we turn to Quran 106: لإيلاف قريش The problem is al-Tabari and other early mufasereen had no idea how to read the word لإيلاف or even what it means and here is Tafsir al-Tabari http://quran.al-islam.com/Page.aspx?pageid=221&BookID=13&Page=1 And it is very clear al-Tabari does not know Now if we turn to the Sahih translation we get the following: "For the accustomed security of the Quraysh" https://quran.com/106/1 Again wrong translation 3. Now we turn to short sentences and in this case we turn to Quran 38:3 Ad the verse says: And they called out: ولات حين مناص The real problem here this short sentence has no meaning what so ever and again here is Tafsir al-Tabari http://quran.al-islam.com/Page.aspx?pageid=221&BookID=13&Page=1 If we read Sahih's translation this is what it says: "but it was not a time for escape" https://quran.com/38/3 False translation again 4. Now let us check Quran 52:1 and the verse says والطور Or wa al-Tur However there is no Arabic word called al-Tur If we turn to Tafsir al-Tabari he wrote (والطور) قال الجبل بالسُّريانية Or al-Tur he said is the mountain in Syriac http://quran.ksu.edu.sa/tafseer/tabary/sura52-aya1.html So this is clearly not an Arabic word and the word mountain in Arabic is jabal So the verse really says: (Allah is swearing) By the Mountain Here is Sahih's translation: "By the mount" https://quran.com/52 The Sahih's editors do not tell the readers that the word al-Tur is not an Arabic word! This is really a serious mistake And here is the word in Syriac ܛܽܘܪܳܐ http://www.assyrianlanguages.org/sureth/dosearch.php?searchkey=5051&language=id 5. Last we can now check Quran 4:71 وكلمته ألقاها إلى مريم وروح منه Or Jesus is: Allah's word (Logos) placed in Mary and a soul from him (Allah) Or Jesus is Allah's Word and Soul and the Quran says that Allah placed his soul by blowing it in Mary's vagina And here is the Tafsir ibn kathir http://quran.ksu.edu.sa/tafseer/katheer/sura4-aya171.html And here is Sahih's translation "His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him." https://quran.com/4/171 Notice that (created at a command) is not in the text Absolutely shameful So what do I give the Sahih's translation so far? It gets an F Again the readers of the Quran need a translation that really tells us what the Quran says with honesty and clarity and no lies or fabrications Now let us turn to Sahih's translation Submitting....
