Prof Areej Zufari and Jesus' Crucifixion in the Qur'anReader comment on item: Study the Koran? Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Apr 2, 2017 at 11:43 Dr Pipes You must be aware of the Florida incident of the Muslim Prof Areej Zufari and the Christian student Marshall Polston He has been reinstated at Rollins College and the Police report that Zufari filed against him is still being investigated However, my interest was her claim that the Qur'an says that Jesus was not crucified because the Qur'an says so The Prof must be unaware that her claim is not true which to me proves that she should not teach such class The Qur'an says in Q4:157 وماقتلوه وماصلبوه ولكن شبه لهم Or They did not kill him and they did not crucify him and it was made to appear to them Oh "they" here are the Jews Notice that the text does not say وماقتل وماصلب Or He (Jesus) was not killed and was not crucified and in the words of Christoph Luxenberg: "The Qur'an does not deny the Crucifixion as a historical fact it refutes more precisely the claim of Jesus' opponents" Now this is from an old post of mine: I urge you to read Q3:55 where it says اذ قال الله ياعيسى اني متوفيك ورافعك الي ومطهرك Or Allah says O Jesus I make you die and I raise you and i purify you If you read Tafsir Ibn Kathir he wrote أَمَاتَهُ اللَّه ثَلَاثَة أَيَّام ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُ ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَ Or Allah made him die for three days and then He resurrected him then he raised him up (to heaven) (Q4:158) This clearly means that the Qur'an says that Jesus died was resurrected and is in heaven now or the revered Ibn Kathir was a liar More? Read Q74:1-2 يايها المدثر قوم وانذر Or O you who is covered with (his) clock Rise (resurrect) and warn al-Mufasereen had no clue what this means but clearly the Qur'an is talking about Jesus and his death and resurrection Christoph Luxenberg reads Q72:19 as follows: The word قام or Qama which means he stood up but it also means when he was resurrected and he reads the word لبدا or Libada(n) (which has no meaning) as misreading of the Syriac ܥܒܕܐ or 'Ibada and he provides a re-reading of the verse as follows: "And that when the servant of God (Jesus) was resurrected all the while calling him (that is continuing to worship God) they (the people) would almost have worshiped him (as God)" And now the verse has meaning and the Qur'an speaks of a "resurrected Servant of God" In Q19:30 Jesus is supposed to be عبد الله or 'Abd Allah or the Servant of Allah I doubt very much that Prof Zufari is aware of all of the above This makes this case unique where a Prof got into areas far different from what she is supposed to be teaching Is it lack of knowledge or imposing her false opinion on her students? I really came to the conclusion that she is a poor uninformed teacher and she should not be teaching Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
