al-Tabari is editing the Qur'an? Check the word خَلَقَ in Surat al-Nuur:45Reader comment on item: Study the Koran? Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Sep 4, 2022 at 10:00 Dr. Pipes, al-Tabari provides two readings for the word خَلَقَ and the word كُلَّ in Surat al-Nuur:45 and here is the verse again :وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَ كُلَّ دَابَّةٍ And these are the two readings: 1. وَاللهُ خَالِقُ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ Or: And Allah THE CREATOR every beast He adds an Alif after the letter Kha and a Kasra under the letter Lam in the word Kul And this indeed makes sense. 2. وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَ كُلَّ دَابَّةٍ He adds a Fatha to the letter Lam in the word Kul or: And Allah CREATED every beast Remember that the original rasm of the Qur'an was missing many Alifs and there was no short vowels in the text. Next, the smart al-Tabari realized that he must come up with a "Tabrir" so he says:وهما قراءتان مشهورتان متقاربتا المعنى Or: These two famous two readings are close enough in meaning. The implications here are very significant and they are: 1. al-Tabari was dealing with a text that was lacking short vowels and the letter Alif 2. It also means that al-Tabari was editing the words of his God 3. So which one do we have in al-Lawh al-Mahfuz? It cannot be both Dear readers (and we hear this very often from Pakistani and Indian Muslims) any Muslim that tells you that not a single word in the Qur'an has been edited is either a liar or ignorant or both Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
