For Dr. Jamshid IbrahimReader comment on item: Study the Koran? Submitted by jennifer solis (United States), Mar 7, 2008 at 23:13 Dr. Jamshid Ibrahim, I found your letter very interesting. My pastor has always stressed the importance of the original languages with regards to the Bible, the 2000 + year-old Hebrew and Greek, with regards to accuracy of interpretation. For example, it is impossible to translate one word of the Hebrew into one word of English. "Simchah" translates to "super abundance of happiness". "Chesed" translates to "unfailing love of God". - Psalm 100:2, 5 I agree with you that "translations by nuetral and objective scholars" of the Qur'an would be best. You write, "Another problem is that any debate on, or criticism to Quran is strictly forbidden and those people especially Muslims who do so, subject their lives to danger.". You go on to write even European scholars are careful and cannot speak their minds for fear of their life. Why should this be? Why do Muslims feel the need to literally kill dissent? I'm interested in your thoughts. Thankyou, JS
