We abuse religionReader comment on item: Study the Koran? Submitted by Rhea (Egypt), Jul 16, 2006 at 11:55 Sir, Without going into a long tedious discussion, history has shown over the centuries how people thirsting for power tend to use religion for their own benefit. Please keep in mind that a religion or its scriptures cannot push people into JIHAD. It is the religious leaders who misuse the teachings of the Quran to validate their own greed for power and also validate for their followers that they have to go to JIHAD. FYI, Jihad comes from the word "Johd" which means effort/labor. Basically all 3rd world underdeveloped countries are going through JIHAD under different beliefs and religions, all for the same cause freedom from oppression, genocide, racism, etc. Many nations have forgotten their own histories of fighitng against oppression and abuse. What is happening is a retaliation against the powerful countries that are stretching their power and interference in the every day and day activities of weaker countries. It is a retaliation against the economic sanctions imposed by those countries, it is a retaliation agains the abuse of these countries resources while the powerful countries get more powerful and think there is no God that needs answering to. JIHAD is something all nations do in their own different way when being oppressed.
