Ruqaya, very few people would know what you are talking about - that's why it's easy for you to tell 1/2 the storyReader comment on item: The Enemy Has a Name Submitted by The Grand Infidel of Kaffiristan (Australia), Jul 13, 2008 at 04:37 Ruqaya writes: "If you think that throwing beer bottles at an ambulance and getting tanked to the eye balls is courage than you need to have a very good look at your self you are a threat to this home land by your nonsense wake up and smell the coffee i needeed a good laugh my home land is cronullah born and bred you are a fool." Before I continue - 'Ruqayah' - Cronulla is not a 'homeland' - it is a suburb. And in case you haven't noticed at all - It is not spelt with an additional 'H' tacked onto the end. (too much 'allah' etc maybe , affecting your spelling?) 'Ruqaya' is making allusions to so-called riots in Cronulla, a Sydney beachside suburb. A crowd of mostly drunken teenagers letting loose on a Saturday afternoon dared to wave the Australian flag and did actually physically attack one or two people 'of middle eastern appearance', and threw beur bottles at an ambulance and police who were called in to prevent further unrest. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Cronulla_riots . I personally don't agree with the issue getting resolved by violent means and don't excuse it - but I do understand the sentiment and the ill-feeling that had been generated by Muslims over the years at Cronulla (and other places around Sydney). The event which triggered this outpouring of emotion was an incident in the days before where volunteer lifesavers at the beach were punched and kicked by a group of Muslims youths. Prior to this there had been many incidents and complaints by women that they were sworn at , ogled and in general intimidated by Muslim men when they came to the beach during the summer. What 'Ruqaya' also doesn't tell readers is that several weeks before this - the infamous 'Skaf' brothers (Lebanese muslims) were jailed for life (50 years+) for their part in an horrific gang rape of an Anglo-Saxon Australian teenage girl. This also contributed to the general feeling against Muslims in Australian society. Ruqaya quite dishonestly doesn't mention the reprisals for the Cronulla 'riot' which occurred on the following 2 nights. Up to 60 car loads of Muslim youths assembled at a mosque in the southwestern suburb of Lakemba. They waited till dark to drive the 20 or so kilometres to Cronulla. Once they were there they proceeded down virtually every street in North Cronulla. For a distance of about 300 metres, on both sides of Elouera Rd, the windscreens and windows and door panels of virtually every car on that street were smashed in by groups of arab youths. A similar event happened at another beachside suburb - Maroubra - on the following night. Why Maroubra was picked is anyone's guess - it is aabout 20kms away from Cronulla. The only thing it has in common is that it has a beach. Several people were physically attacked - including one unfortunate man in the backstreets who just happened to be putting out his garbage at the wrong time. He was found bloodied and unconscious in the gutter. We were there just after this occurred and saw all this Another man in the nearby suburb of Woolooware, walking along the street was knifed and came very close to being killed. Several other people were bashed. http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1P1-118829938.html http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1P1-124832934.html In reality that night time revenge attack was by Muslims who did not know and had nothing to do with the few people who were the targets of the initial abuse hurled by the Australian Anglo-Saxon youth on the Saturday afternoon. They merely assumed that people teenagers attacked were Muslim -in fact many of them were non-Muslim. The amount of property damage to cars and windows etc and the physical pain and mental anguish caused to the people who had been bashed and their families far outweighed the initial provocation. This is the same sort of mob mentality that sets alight embassies because of cartoons etc. Muslims become ultra-sensitive at But if they are honest - they will realise that they bring this on themselves by their own arrogant attitudes.
