Hitler is Definately Not ChristianReader comment on item: A Christian Boom Submitted by Servant of Christ (United States), Jan 10, 2007 at 20:58 Hitler was a Christian: History is being distorted by many preachers and politicians. They are heard on the airwaves condemning atheists and routinely claim Adolph Hitler was one. What a crock! Hitler was a Roman Catholic, baptized into that religio-political institution as an infant in Austria. He became a communicant and an altar boy in his youth, and was confirmed as a "soldier of Christ" in that church. The worst doctrines of that church never left him. He was steeped in its liturgy, which contained the words, "perfidious Jew." This hateful statement was not removed until 1961. Perfidy means treachery. Then the church is corrupt. You think that a person cannot lie. Again, you cannot find a simple verse which supports your claim. Find me verses that Hitler used to justify his Jew slaying. I can easily throw out verses which counter his actions: 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. (Matthew 7:20 NIV) The fact is, you have nothing that you can do which proves that Hitler was a Christian. You have evidence that says he claims he was and others claim he was, but he has no deeds to back it up. If you think that the Holocaust was a Christian deed, then find me support from this divine authority called the Bible. If you think you can try an force it by citing a Roman Catholic church or whatnot, that won't work since in general, Catholics do not uphold the Bible as total authority. The thing is, your bias has blinded you so that your selective reading has kept you from seeing simple words, "Although Hitler was publicly a Catholic, his closest friends confirmed that Hitler found Christianity foolish and insipid". This is the equivalent of me pretending to be a Nazi yet I save as many Jews as I can whilst disobeying Hitler's commands. Again, Jesus told us that he who does not do what Jesus commands, is a LIAR. If the church approves Hitler, then guess what? It's full of LIARS. Be more rational and find biblical proof because that is what Christianity is based on. And remember, Wikipedia is completely neutral on topics like these. For it to agree universally that Hitler's religion publicly and privately conflict means a lot. And again, it says he was influenced by Darwin. So whose actions did Hitler imitate. Natural selection or Jesus Christ? He definately does not represent Jesus (who is a Jew and loved Jews) but his Holocaust had experiments frighteningly similar to those of natural selection and racial supremacy... hmmm... In his day, hatred of Jews was the norm. In great measure it was sponsored by the two major religions of Germany, Catholicism and Lutheranism. He greatly admired Martin Luther, who openly hated the Jews. Luther condemned the Catholic Church for its pretensions and corruption, but he supported the centuries of papal pogroms against the Jews. Luther said, "The Jews deserve to be hanged on gallows seven times higher than ordinary thieves," and "We ought to take revenge on the Jews and kill them." "Ungodly wretches" he calls the Jews in his widely read Table Talk. Yes, I admit, Luther did have a distaste for Jews in his later years. However, you are still evading the point. Your logic is flawed. I'll illustrate your logic: An innocent person is at a hearing in court. The judge just so happens to be corrupt. So what is our conclusion? Is democracy evil? Is the Constitution wicked and worthy for burning? No! The judge did not properly represent the Constitution. The judge failed to do what was required of him. If you are consistent with your logic, then denounce the Constitution because we've had plenty of corrupt judges. Denounce the government because we've had loads of corrupt people there. Denounce mankind for its many wars. But let's hope you are not consistent with your logic :D. It's not the Constitution that's bad but rather the judge's morality. It isn't Christianity that's wrong, just Luther's antisemitism. Hitler seeking power, wrote in Mein Kampf. "... I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews. I am doing the Lord's work." Years later, when in power, he quoted those same words in a Reichstag speech in 1938. Three years later he informed General Gerhart Engel: "I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so." He never left the church, and the church never left him. Great literature was banned by his church, but his miserable Mien Kampf never appeared on the Index of Forbidden Books. Can we say that he lied please? Politicians do this all the time. It's almost as if you think that one of history's greatest mass murderers can't lie. The work of the Lord is to believe in Jesus (John 6:29). Geez, our 'Christian' leader can't even get this right. He can't even get love thy neighbor right. He was not excommunicated or even condemned by his church. Popes, in fact, contracted with Hitler and his fascist friends Franco and Mussolini, giving them veto power over whom the pope could appoint as a bishop in Germany, Spain and Italy. The three thugs agreed to surtax the Catholics of their countries and send the money to Rome in exchange for making sure the state could control the church. I'm not catholic so I don't care what Popes think. The fact is, they doubt that the Bible is the authoritave divine inspiration of God. Btw, find me Bible verses :P. Those who would make Hitler an atheist should turn their eyes to history books before they address their pews and microphones. Acclaimed Hitler biographer, John Toland, explains his heartlessness as follows: "Still a member in good standing of the Church of Rome despite detestation of its hierarchy, he carried within him its teaching that the Jew was the killer of god. The extermination, therefore, could be done without a twinge of conscience since he was merely acting as the avenging hand of god..." Hitler's private statements are more mixed. There are negative statements about Christianity reported by Hitler's intimates, Goebbels, Speer, and Bormann.
