susanReader comment on item: A Christian Boom Submitted by Sohail (United Kingdom), Feb 13, 2007 at 07:58 Response: If he was a prophet he should know better, not to go head first into such a responsibe think like to make a judgement. It is a serious matter to sentence somebody to death. I am not a prophet and when I need to do someting that has lasting consequences I pray to seek Lord's will!. Even with my children I pray for wisdom. This just tells me that he was a "wana be prophet" who did what suited him at any given moment and than manipulated public opinion by stating diffrent things. Well Muhammad thought that bibical law was right. Response: I have read the verse and cited it to you so why are you citing it back. It is the verse that is used in the manner I have mentioned even today. This is the human nature!. Yeah, by the wahhabis but not by me. Response: Why was he a bad profet if he commanded Jews to restrain themselves and wait a month plus he made extra rules? I thought that you liked Moses. It is much better than in muslim tradition where women of dead enemy soldier swere raped instantly without wait, without marrige, isn't it? There is no Islamic law which says you could rape women. Moses order death off innocent women and children. I disagree see my comment, also I guess you have nothing more serious to say and we made a whole circle. It is quite ironic that you mind christian women to cover their head during church service while praying ( compared to muslim woman who are supposed to cover themselves constantly But actualyl it is not so. christian women do not have to cover their heads, since what apostle Paul refers to as "woman's covering" is her hair: 1 Corinthians 11:14-16 (New International Version) 14Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. Apostle Paul does not want woman in church to pray without this"covering" - so he wants tham to have long hair. and as for the equality of woman in Islam I found 5 videos on Utube with Imams talking about how to physically beat women citing koran. ( I can send you the links if you want me to) Sura (4:34) "Good women are obedient… As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to bed apart and beat them." Why didn't you show the full verse: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all). 4:34 And also in the Quran it says this: "O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may take away part of the dower [money given by the husband to the wife for the marriage contract] ye have given them, except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and God brings about through it a great deal of good. (The Noble Quran, 4:19)" "Women are your fields; go then into your fields whence you please." (Sura 2:223) (it looks like women are property of man, doesn't it? Women are property of men in the Bible. compare this to the new testament. Ephesians 5:33 33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Colossians 3:18-20 18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. 20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 1 Corinthians 7:2-5 (New International Version) 2But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. 3The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.5Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. ( this is in contrast to your surah 4:34!) 1 Corinthians 7:9-11 (New International Version) 10To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife. Compare it to the Quran: "The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey God and His Apostle. On them will God pour His mercy: for God is Exalted in power, Wise. (The Noble Quran, 9:71)" "And when you men have divorced women, ...then either retain them in kindness if you reconcile, or part with them in kindness. Do not retain them to harm them so that you transgress limits. He who does this has wronged himself. (The Holy Quran 2:231)" "Women impure for men impure. And women of purity for men of purity. These are not affected by what people say. For them is forgiveness and an honorable provision. (The Holy Quran 24:26)" Sohail Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
