Dear readers: This is beyond our dear Michael's education. So read and enjoy.
al-Mufasereen tell us that the Arabic alphabet is derived from Syriac/Aramaic alphabet and here from no other than البلاذري or al-Baladhri:
قال: اجتمع ثلاثة نفر من طيئ ببقة وهم مرامر بن مرة، وأسلم بن سدرة، وعامر بن جدرة فوضعوا الخط، وقاسوا هجاء العربية على هجاء السريانية. فتعلمه منهم قوم من أهل الأنبار، ثم تعلمه أهل الحيرة من أهل الأنبار
And to make it simple: 3 persons got together and then he provides their names and they established the line (read this as the morphology/calligraphy) and they measured the Arabic spelling based on the Syriac spelling and the people of al-Anbar and al-Hira learned it.

The Arabic alphabet did not drop from the sky!
I urge all readers to watch this 3 minutes video about the origin of the Arabic alphabet in a Syro-Arabic Christian milieu in late antiquity in Syria, and not al-Hijaz, during the 6th century AD and why does the Qur'anic text make no sense most of the time

BTW Thomas Alexander is very well informed about the German Inara (enlightenment) Group and the group is subjecting the Quanic text to a very comprehensive examination with very good results that are contrary to the narratives of the Islamic Historical Tradition.
Any comments our dear Michael al-tablighee?
