I happened to catch Dr. Pipes on CNN, along with two other panelists. One was from some university (I didn't catch the name of the university, nor the name of the speaker.)
I think the issue of "causation" is only barely grasped by some individuals (along with "root causes"). The "problem" as Sam Harris points out in his text "The End of Faith" is with religious fanatics. They are nothing sort of evil, religious zealots using the Koran as their text to justify genocidal mass murder. They are at heart vile racists, similar to nazis. And that Arbor critter, that so-called Canadian who heads up the UN Commission on "human rights" should be stripped of her citizenship and deported to any one of her lovely Arab countries -- preferably Saudi Arabia where she could be dressed in a black bag and kept locked indoors. If this were the 1930s she would be nothing more than a nazi collaborator, praising Hitler.
But to return to the issue of "causation" -- I noticed that a so-called professor alleged that Hezbollah, a terrorist organization, was, in effect, "created" by Israel. Such wanton stupidity is breathtaking. This vile cretin needs to review his history books (and not those penned by Arabs or their terrorist backers.) Hezbollah was created as a client of Iran, designed to do Iran's bidding (and this continues to be the case -- that Nasrallah chose to kidnap Israeli soldiers when the UN was about to look at Irans' nuclear development, did not occur by accident.) And back in the 1980s (during the Iran-Iraq war) Iran was diplomatically isolated -- they needed proxies to get out their messages. Furthermore, when the U.S. Marines were stationed in Beirut in the 1980s, Hezbollah truck bombed them along with the French -- this was NOT caused by Israel.
Again, the "cause" should be evident -- it is murderous Islam -- and the victims of terrorist attacks should NEVER be accused of the very crimes that these terrorist, criminal psychopaths have commited. VICTIMS are NOT perpetrators! Now is that too difficult a concept for the mentally and morally challenged imbeciles at universities to grasp?
