A great analysis, to which I completely subscribe. This can be a critical turning point, but only if the IDF holds steady to its committment. No victor, no vanquished!
I followed with great interest, a couple of months ago, Michael Totten's reports from the Israel/Lebanon border. What asstounded me was that, directly within the visibility of the Israelis, Hezbollah was planting thousands of rocket devices. Without question the location of all those sites, and others observed by satellite, were pin-pointed. I have no doubt, either, that Israel's intelligence service in Lebanon would further supplement precise knowledge of Hezbollah's offensie positions. I have every confidence that very little has escaped Israeli scrutiny and that the targeting of their offensive is precise and not random battering of innocent peasants, as Hezbollah and Palestinian paratisans would have us believe.
I believe Israel has the capability to prevail in a big way, and pray that they hold to their course. Any counsel to "negotiate" should be ignored. Can any intelligent person comprehend something like the Economists' leader on how Hezbollah made a "lttle mistake", an accident that should be recognized but immediately followed by compromise? A good part of our problem in America is that CNN and the NYT and its ilk, make it appear that Hamas and Hezbollah are political parties. They have absolutely no policies for governance or concern for the common weal. We should hold them in comparison to the Ku Klux Klan, a single-agenda, terrorist organization dedicated to the subjugation of blacks and jews.
It never ran anyone for political office in its own name, but nevertheless gained great political power within our country. At a point in the '20's they represented close to 15% of our population. Should we have negotiated with them? Can you inaagine what course our nation would have taken if we had compromised with the KKK, permitted their proxies to dictate national policies? This is why most Arab nations want nothing to do with Hezbollah and Hamas. They must be totaly humiliated. They won't go away, but they must understand that they will never prevail. Israel can do it!
