I not only agree with what you wrote for The New York Sun & the L.A Times, but I believe it is a must read for most Israeli talking heads. I am an Israeli, but not talking. It could help if you got a bit more into detail and explained the background to the entry to Lebanon in 1982, known among Israelis as a bit of an overeach, why Israel overstayed, how the mothers of the injured did not stop hounding every politician to get the troops back from the strip north of the international border, and the collusion of many American oliticians, influencing Israel to be reasonable and not do the job of defending itself.

It goes back to 5 star General Dwight Eisenhauer (1956).

When it comes to hubris, being cheeky, and repeating history (intelligence failure-1973 - 2006), your takes are very accurate!
