Dear readers, our dear Matthew told that he teaches Arabic, Mashallah. So help us, Kuffar, what on earth is مرقوم?
Dear readers: This is Qur'an 83:9 and the verse says:
كتاب مرقوم
This can be rendered as: A book مرقوم (notice that I left the word مرقوم untranslated because this word has no meaning)
However, al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir come to the rescue and tell us that it really means مكتوب or written/ordained.
Enter al-Suyuti who tells his readers that:كتاب مرقوم اي مكتوب باللغة العبرية or: A مرقوم book means a book written in Hebrew!
Mashallah! I thought that the Qur'an is an Arabic not a Hebrew book! Oh well
al-Suyuti is clearly making things up but at the same time he is claiming that this is a loan word from Hebrew which is nonsense. This word has no meaning!
So help us our dear Matthew al-Tablighee, what on earth is مرقوم?
Here is a link to Tafsir Ibn Kathir of this disaster

And here is a link to al-Suyuti's Itiqan or الاتقان في علوم القران

And here is a link to Qur'an 83 or Surat al-Mutafiffin.

Next?
1. The disaster of "is this Sura a Meccan Sura or Medina Sura or BOTH"?
2. Allah's response to the Meccan pagans asking Muhammad: "ya Abul Qasim, what does the word عليين really mean?" and Allah's response preserved in Q83:19
3. The Meccan pagans reminding Muhammad that his "revelations" are no more than اساطير الاولين or the Fables of the Ancients in Quran 83:13.
4. What does the word المطففين mean?
5. The introduction of assigning numbers to each verse and a title to each Sura and it is a big time disaster.
Dear readers: I'm sure by now any reader who is following my posts about Sura 83 is realizing that how can it be that the 3rd century of Islam when al-Tabari wrote his very much a Masoretic exegesis of the Qur'an the meaning of the whole Sura was lost and where was it revealed and why? Any guesses?
Stay tuned for more
