The Young and the SecularReader comment on item: Friendless in the Middle East Submitted by Jay1 (United States), Nov 8, 2011 at 20:51 Dr Pipes offers two and a half types in the Middle East. And he airs it with caution. Be most aware of the Islamists,and oppose them as enemies he states. Nurture tyrants as best possible,balancing principles vs people we in the west can do business with. And half but not least, help the young,secular and modern in the sand, so they may inhabit their earth. Theres no disagreement here,on all counts. Except of course if one wishes to address what I have called the half. For in the other half of the half is a country that is young,and secular,and modern in the sand. They are smart and industrious,democratic, and cleanly. And they love the West. They're here already, right before our eyes. And yet, the incompetent West has decided to favor the tyrants and Islamists over them. Whoever could those masked men (and women) be? None other I suggest, than Israel. And yet - the West keeps talking day and night about Israel withdrawing from disputed lands to the lines of the tyrants and Islamists. So may I add a fourth point to Dr Pipes suggested policy triad. Stop being intimidated by Palestinians and lose your anti semitism. Submitting....
