More foreign words in the Qur'an and this time Sanskrit or so we are told by al-Tabari

For the readers: there is no doubt that the Qur'an has its share of foreign words and the Muslim masorites in the 3rd century of islam realized such fact but their command languages other than Arabic was mediocre at best

Now this time I will go after the word Tuba in surat al-ra3d or Q13:28 where it says طوبى لهم or tuba to them

This word tuba was also a puzzle to the ulama and if we read al-Tabari he is not sure what the word really means. But by pure guessing we are told by the masorites that this word has something to do with the word طيب or happy/content /bliss and only allahu a3lam

Now back to al-Tabari he tells us that this word could mean (and to remind the readers the more meanings al-Tabari provides the more likely that he had no clue about the meaning of a word and this is a case in point)

1. نِعْمَ مَا لَهُمْ .or blessing to what they have

2. We are also told that the word means فَرَح وَقُرَّة عَيْن or being happy/celebration and content

3. حُسْنَى لَهُمْ , وَهِيَ كَلِمَة مِنْ كَلَام الْعَرَب and here he says that the word means something better/beautiful for them then he tells us that the word is an Arabic word!

4. I also means خَيْر لَهُمْ or plenty/better for them which means that he is not really sure what this word means

5. Then he tells us that this word means الْخَيْر وَالْكَرَامَة الَّتِي أَعْطَاهُمْ اللَّه or the plenty and respect provided by Allah

6. The he tells us that this word is another word for paradise and it is another word for paradise { طُوبَى لَهُمْ } اِسْم مِنْ أَسْمَاء الْجَنَّة , وَمَعْنَى الْكَلَام : الْجَنَّة لَهُمْ

7. Then he tells us that this word is a foreign word and it means the name of paradise in Ethiopic { طُوبَى لَهُمْ } قَالَ : اِسْم الْجَنَّة بِالْحَبَشِيَّةِ which is a ridiculous claim

8. Then he tells us that it is a foreing word for paradise bi al-hindyya : { طُوبَى لَهُمْ } قَالَ : " طُوبَى " : اِسْم الْجَنَّة بِالْهِنْدِيَّةِ can you tell the readers which language is this our dear Amin? so does the word tuba mean paradise in al-lugha al-hindiyya our dear Amin?

9. And when nothing seems to be working al-Tabari quotes no other that Abul Qasim himself aka Muhammad where he is quoted as saying that tuba really is a tree in paradise! وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الْخَبَر عَنْ رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ طُوبَى اِسْم شَجَرَة فِي الْجَنَّة ,

This means that al-Tabari had no clue about the meaning of this word but he knew that this is a strange word and non Arabic word

Now let us check Syriac and the word tuba means happiness/good fortuneܛܘܒܐ and this is indeed from the same semitic root as in Arabic and hebrew

From the root ܛ-ܘ-ܒ (IPA: /tˁ-w-b/) related to being good. Compare Arabic طِيب (ṭīb) and Hebrew טוּב (ṭûḇ).

And it is still used in today's Christian Arabic and here is a reference from the Peshitta James 5:11-16Peshitta^{(i) 11} ܗܐ ܓܝܪ ܝܗܒܝܢܢ ܛܘܒܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܤܝܒܪܘ ܫܡܥܬܘܢ ܡܤܝܒܪܢܘܬܗ ܕܐܝܘܒ ܘܚܪܬܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܙܝܬܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܪܚܡܢ ܗܘ

And the word is highlighted and here is the translation into Arabic ¹¹ ها نحن نطوّب الصابرين. قد سمعتم بصبر ايوب ورأيتم ولكن قبل كل شيء يا اخ or ha nahnu NATOOB al-sabireen

Oh the Muslim Arab? most Muslim arabs would have no clue what the Quranic word tuba really means and they would not even be able to utter or write a sentence where the word tuba is used and why is that our dear Amin? Let me help you because it is not an Arabic word but Christian Arabs still preserve it as a loan word from Syriac
