Replies to Mr. JoshuaReader comment on item: Friendless in the Middle East Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Nov 25, 2011 at 10:42 Dear Mr. Joshua, "The poorest homeless Muslim in the US is in a better condition than the richest non-Muslim in Saudi Arabia and other Islamic states because the former can pray the way he wants to pray and the latter runs the risk of being killed if he prays according to his choice. Take away the oil wealth and Saudi Arabia will be just dry desert. Get it, Mr Banerjee?" My Answer --- > You must understand that the so-condmened evil Saudi regime is America's biggest ally in the region. So , America should also take a lot bit of blame for the treatment of non-Muslims in Saudi Arabia. Do you think the Saudis would have been able to do everything that they do without the strong backing of your America ? Another point regarding the treatment of non-Muslims in the Muslim World. Take two examples of Iraq and Syria. In Iraq , Christians were not only treated equally but given high posts in government (one of Saddam's chief aide was Tariq Aziz ,a Christian). Now , America takes out Saddam and as a result almost the million-strong Christian community in Iraq faces extinction , all under the watchful eyes of your American marines. Now the governments in the West Asian region who are most favorable to non-Muslims are Iran and Syria. Syria houses most of the Christians who fled American occupation of Iraq and Iran hosts the second largest Jewish community in the region. Iran even has Jewish ministers of parliament. Esther and Mordechai's tombs are still in very much reverence in Iran. Now look at the attitude of US and Israel to the regimes of Iran and Syria. Now contrast this attitude of Iran and Syria to US attitude of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain both of which crushed pro-democracy movements very recently. Now I ask you if you have got an iota of brain you should be able to understand the hypocracy here. "The poorest homeless Muslim in the US is in a better condition than the richest non-Muslim in Saudi Arabia" My Answer --- > Ohh another incorrect asessment. Have you heard about Furkan Dogan who was murdered in cold blood by the Israelis on board Mavi Marmara ? The treatment that he got after killed by Israelis is surely not equitable to the reaction the US governemnt took after the death of Leon Clinghoffer on board Achilo Laurro where the US government were ready to fight against the forces of their fellow NATO ally , Italy. Tell your claims of equal treatments of Muslims to the families of Dogan , Samir Khan and Al-Awlaki. Can you answer me why Anwar Al-Awlaki and Samir Khan did not get any fair trials but were incinerated through drones though they were very much American citizens ? Was it because they were Muslims of non-Anglo-Saxon stocks ? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
