Well said Dr Pipes. When one looks at Rick Steves's travel documentary on Iran it is clear from the numerous spontaneous "I love America and Americans" remarks to him from ordinary people in Tehran and elsewhere in Iran that Iran is different from the other hostile countries of the region. It would be a pity if the US cannot convert this spark into a raging fire that spreads around the region. Current American policies in the region are dictated mainly by their economic interests that are centered around energy. Iran in my view holds the key to how the story ends in the middle-east.
