Dear Dr Pipes:
Thanks for your article entitled "Friendless in the Middle East". It is true that western and other democracies face a dilemma when deciding whether to support or oppose the uprisings against tyrants in the middle east. As a pragmatic approach your policy guidelines 1) ask the tyrants to behave better 2) always oppose islamists and 3) help the liberals are quite correct are right on the target.
Policies of the democratic governments are dictated by how the voters in those democracies vote. So I will add just one more guideline for all the voters who live in any democracy anywhere in the world: 4) Never vote for an elected representatives whose statements and actions seem to violate the above three guidelines.
So if you are an elected representative in any country what-so-ever and if you are not opposing the Islamist, you are not worthy of re-election.
