Dear Dr Pipes:
Reader Lars from Denmark questions if Islamic tyrants worse than other tyrants. Let us make no mistake about it. Islamic tyrants (and other theocratic regimes) are worse than the other tyrants. While a non-religious despot can be easily identified and criticized, religious tyrants hide under the umbrella of religion and cannot be criticized without hurting someone's sensibilities. These tyrants also exploit religion for their gains.
The US contitution --that is criticized by the Islamists around the planet-- was full of foresight when insisted on the separation of Church and State. Mixing religion with politics is bad even in a well functioning democracy. In Islamic emirates, it is a dangerous ombination. The day Islamists understand this little fact, peace and prosperity will come to the Islamic world.
