DO NOT back downReader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Bryan Jackson (Canada), Jun 26, 2007 at 20:50 How are we gonna get more moderate voices in the Muslim world? By encouraging more people like Sir Salman Rushdie to criticize his faith and the politics of their nation. Rushdie has been a brave man since that book was released in 1988, and he deserves accolades for being one to stand up and make an example that Muslims aren't the brain-washed suicidal morons some people (including a good many here) think they are. And note to the Iranians and Pakistanis - the world already doesn't think terribly highly of you, you might want to let this go, because all Rushdie did was write a book and people didn't care for the people murdered by angry rioters after the Pope's comments...... Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
