To Oliver: A question of justice. Surrender to my religion or being KilledReader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Syed Rafey Husain (Pakistan), Jul 3, 2007 at 02:04 and publicly abrogate his instruction to fight christians and jews until there is no religion but islam ... Dear Oliver, this is a really good question. I am happy that you asked. It is a question of justice. Obviously, if I put myself to your place and you come tomorrow and say to me "Syed, you have no other option except being killed or surrender to my religion". Then this "may be" unjust. Note that I used the word "may be". Because it is different depending on Prophethood, piety and honesty of a person inviting. Although, belief or not to belief is a matter of heart. And it happens. And you can not "do" ‘belief' or ‘not belief', it just happens. Like it "happened" to magicians who tried to go against Mosas (May Allah peace and blessing on him) at the time of of Fir'on (Pharaoh). As Quran says about those magicians/sorcerers "And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. They said, `we believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses."(20.70) But souls, if not living simple life and not giving life here after a priority, become reactive. So sometimes your heart belief but due to your reactive inner (i.e. soul) as of Pharaoh, you are unable to do justice in your words and actions. you see I believe in reciprocal behavior ... my religion can play nice - but only after your religion plays nice ... but your religion can't play nice until it's the only religion ... so there's the problem Dear Oliver, there are no two religions. How could there be? When there is One God. My love to you. Syed Rafey Husain Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
