To Syed: What's NICE? Read your scriptures!Reader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Plato (United Arab Emirates), Jul 16, 2007 at 03:07 "--- I can define it by telling what is your scriptures seem to think are NICE. Read in the Koran, the Sirat and hadiths. The History of Tabari, vol 8, pge 29-30 From his share of captive women, prophet gave his son-in-law, Ali a slave girl, Raytah bt Hilal to enjoy her at his will. He also presented Uthman b. Affan, his son-in-law, another slave girl Zainab b. Hayan, and bestowed another girl (name unknown) to his father in-law Omar Ibn Khattab. Omar gave that girl to his son Abdullah. Most of Prophet's other elite companions received slave girls as gifts.. Volume 4 Number 260 (Bukhari) Ali burnt some people and this news reached Ibn 'Abbas, who said, 'Had I been in his place I would not have burnt them, as the Prophet said, 'Don't punish (anybody) with Allah's Punishment.' No doubt, I would have killed them, for the Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' Book 38, Number 4341: Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal: AbuMusa said: Mu'adh came to me when I was in the Yemen. A man who was Jew embraced Islam and then retreated from Islam. When Mu'adh came, he said: I will not come down from my mount until he is killed. He was then killed. One of them said: He was asked to repent before that. Volume 4, Book 52, Number 288 The Prophet on his death-bed, gave three orders one of them was to Expel the pagans from the Arabian Peninsula. Volume 4, Book 52, Number 176 Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Bukhari:Vol9 Book 87 Number 127 "The Prophet said, ‘I have been given the keys of eloquent speech and given victory with terror.'" Ibn Hisham (part 3, p. 113): "Ali Ibn Abi Talib encountered a man called 'Umru and told him, 'I indeed invite you to Islam.' 'Umru said, 'I do not need that.' 'Ali said, 'Then I call you to fight.' 'Umru answered him, 'What for my nephew? By God, I do not like to kill you.' 'Ali said, 'But, by God, I love to kill you"'. 4:15](For women) As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, ... confine them to the houses until death take them. 4:24 And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess (slave women have no rights?) 9:111 GOD has bought from the believers their lives and their money in exchange for Paradise. Thus, they fight in the cause of GOD, willing to kill and get killed. Such is His truthful pledge in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran - and who fulfills His pledge better than GOD? You shall rejoice in making such an exchange. This is the greatest triumph. 003.110I: Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors. 5:33 The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom; 5:38 As for the thief, both male and female, cut off their hands. It is the reward of their own deeds, an exemplary punishment from Allah. Allah is Mighty, Wise. (Even a poor hungry man's) Malik said, "The limit I prefer above which cutting off the hand is obliged is three dirhams, whether the exchange is high or low. That is because the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, cut off the hand of a thief for a shield whose value was three dirhams, and 'Uthman ibn 'Affan cut off the hand of a thief for a citron which was estimated at three dirhams. This is what I prefer of what I have heard on the matter." "---Dear Jaladhi, just to take economics (leaving politics and social life aside), you must be aware that all these countries that you have listed allow interest based banking prohibited in Islam and do not collect Islamic Zakaat (instead have other taxation systems).---" Syed Rafey, you have got interest on your brain. It is not because interest is not banned in Muslim countries that they are such poor specimens but probably because Muslims are unwilling or unable to carry out some of these NICE injunctions of the Koran or emulate the NICE actions of the Prophet and his companions. Syed you wrote to Jaladhi (in inverted commas): Could you define nice?---""---Dear Jaladhi I tell you what, they are all practically non Islamic countries.---" Sure they are non-Islamic countries as they have been prevented by the rest of the world from indulging in some of those NICE things the Koran urges them to do and the Prophet and his companions did.
