ToSyed: Read the Koran to understand why Muslims are 'reactive'Reader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Plato (United Arab Emirates), Jul 15, 2007 at 06:55 Syed, you are simply avoiding, as is usual with Muslims when confronted with inconvenient facts, answering the points raised. You say Muslims should be told "LIVE simple life your Prophet and then come back to us with ANY message". How can you tell Muslims that when the Prophet himself set a poor example. Remember he kept slaves, concubines, several wives and looted caravans and neighbouring tribes. What kind of an example in simplicity is that?? In Tabari, vol 8, pge 29-30 we read: From his share of captive women, prophet gave his son-in-law, Ali a slave girl, Raytah bt Hilal to enjoy her at his will. He also presented Uthman b. Affan, his son-in-law, another slave girl Zainab b. Hayan, and bestowed another girl (name unknown) to his father in-law Omar Ibn Khattab. Omar gave that girl to his son Abdullah. Most of Prophet's other elite companions received slave girls as gifts.. Was the Prophet teaching simplicity by this act? Go ahead and trash Tabari. I can dig out similar stuff from the shahi hadiths for you, if you insist. "---You say: Dear Plato, Muslims have forgot (in general, not all) "the Message" and are eager (or fight with other humans) to acquire more and more world resources like Gold, Oil, Land, Woman and Farming Lands and Horses and/or vehicles.---" What do you think Muslims have been doing for 1400 years. When did they ever remember that message? Why did they go to India. Why did they go to Africa. For plunder and slaves. Have you not read of how the Arab invaders of India (Mohammed Bin Qasim) sent huge caravans loaded with loot and slaves back to the Khalifa. You are in Pakistan, don't tell me you have not read what Mohammed Bin Qasim did to your forefathers. Please read your history, Syed. How could god almighty's message be so badly misread by his followers that they do the exact opposite of what God wants? (Actually the plundering and slave taking was exactly what Allah wanted, if the plundered were pagans, as booty has been made legal for Muslims by the Koran). Whose fault is it, if not Allah's as he has proven Himself incapable of articulating his message for humans to understand correctly. "---I have no statistics on if Muslims are the most (reactive?) people. It would be unjust at my part if I comment.---" You have statistics of rapes in the USA and the millions killed by the precursors of your religion. But you refuse to see the statistics (simply read your daily newspaper or switch on your TV) of the reaction of Muslims all over the world for the slightest of reasons, from cartoons to books to a nation's right to reward its own citizen. Is it just on your part to comment on rapes in America? "---But reason of Muslims (in general and not all) being "reactive" is because they no longer wish to live simple life like their own Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The are themselves (in general) not Simple while asking others like you to stay "non-reactive". This is unjust. This appeal has no moral basis. It is not going to be materialized---" Can you blame Muslims for not wishing to live the simple life. The Koran tells them again and again that a life of ease and pleasure should be the ultimate aim of every soul. What moral basis does the Koran have to tell people that one should not have on earth the pleasures that are freely available in paradise. When one is brought up from childhood onwards with the message that these are the pleasures that should be one's life ambition can you blame the poor misguided Muslims from wishing for and trying to acquire them on earth? It is quite simple, isn't it, to understand why the Muslim masses are so reactive? And I have shown you in this mail and the previous post how the Prophet himself has set a very bad example by leading a not-so-simple life by keeping slaves, distributing slaves are gifts, having many wives and acquiring wealth by looting caravans and neighbours.
