My compliments to Sir Salman RushdieReader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Jaisingh Thakur (India), Jul 11, 2007 at 08:02 The British authorities deserve to be complimented for having honoured one of the finest novelists of our time ,Mr.Salman Rushdie, of " The Midnight's Children " fame. I strongly denounce all those who are hell bent on attributing motives to this simple act of bestowing honour on a highly meritorious writer. To me, it is neither to spite the Muslims nor to rub salt in their already festering wounds. To all such persons like Mr.Ijaz ul haq, I would merely ask them to take a look around and see the sordid goings-on in their own countries with a mind as objective and analytical as that of another celebrated writer-in fact one of my favourites- Mr. Daniel Pipes, and it will become crystal clear to him as to who is insulting Muslims and Islam. JAISINGH THAKUR Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
