No, Charles, you are wrong!Reader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Mel Laraway (United States), Jul 5, 2007 at 09:41 Mr. Muhammed should get his "facts" straight. It is wrong to confuse Christianity with imperialism. With regard to Great Britain, the government was to blame for excesses, not true Christianity, since the monarchy subordinated the Anglican Church to its wishes. True Christianity teaches men to love their neighbors, no matter what their religious beliefs. Mr. Muhammed, Hitler was a pagan Nazi, not a Christian. At least you are not a Holocaust denier who claims the Shoah never occurred, unlike so many others of your faith. The Crusaders tried to free the holy land from the conquering armies of Islam, who persecuted the Christians and Jews and drove them out or comdemned them to dhimmi status as second-class citizens. There was no such a people as "Palestinians" during that time. Where did you get the idea that Josef Stalin was a Christian? He was a cold-blooded atheistic Communist tyrant, admired, incidentally, by Saddam Hussein and other Arab leaders. Why do you not realize that "radical Islam" is no less a totalitarian belief system than Communism or Nazism? Radical Islam has as its ultimate goal the imposition of a world-wide caliphate and the forced conversion of the infidels to Islam. If they refuse to convert (or "revert" as the Imams preach) the infidels are to pay the jizya, will not be allowed to repair their religious facilities and surely will not be allowed to construct new ones, or proselyte. And of course if they refuse to submit they will be killed if possible. One more thing-is there religious liberty in any Muslim-dominated country? Can a Muslim convert to any other faith in such a country without the threat of a fatwa being issued for his death?
