To Sayed Rafey: Why is the Islamic world full of 'reactive' souls?Reader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Plato (United Arab Emirates), Jul 4, 2007 at 10:03 Syed what you wrote are in inverted commas: "---I am saying, with teachings of Quran available it is far easier for me and any other Muslim to live simple life with happiness.---" You forget Rafey that the Koran entices you with visions of paradise where things are anything but simple. You are served hand and mouth by beautiful damsels and boys, it is a place full of milk and honey and wine. So won't the reaction among its readers be a great longing and desire for such pleasures? "---With simple life comes non reactive soul.---" And if the Koran was preaching a simple life why would it encourage its followers to take booty, including slaves and women. Would the Almighty not have banned its followers from such cruel practices that rather than lead to simple life leads to a life of ease and plenty like the vision of heaven that the Koran give its readers? The Koran literally tells its readers to enjoy what they took in war making it lawful and good. Read: 008.069 But (now) enjoy what ye took in war, lawful and good: but fear Allah: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. What is use of this fear of Allah, if what it leads to is encourage people to loot a defeated people? "---Having non reactive soul your ego dies and when that happens you do justice to other humans may it hurt your own respected father, beloved brother or loving sister.---" [I suspect you are a sufi wishing for annihilation in the person of the Almighty] What kind of an example does the Allmighty set. He is the most egotistical Being imaginable from the adjectives he uses to describe Himself. The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful (being the most inappropriate) the all-knowing, the all-seeing, and any word of praise you can possibly think of. Having the slightest doubt about his greatness or joining his name with any other makes the heavens shake with his anger and he will consign that person to hell and torture him with the most excruciating of tortures. The Prophet also wants to be praised all the time, with the Koran praising him as some special kind of person who has even Allah and his angels bless him. 33:56 Surely Allah and His angels bless the Prophet; O you who believe! call for (Divine) blessings on him and salute him with a (becoming) salutation. Aren't the teachings of the Koran that make Muslims reactive. Here are some of of its teachings: 4:15 As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, call to witness four of you against them. And if they testify (to the truth of the allegation) then confine them to the houses until death take them or (until) Allah appoint for them a way (through new legislation). [Reaction to lewdness of women. But no reaction to lewdness of men] 28:58 And how many a community have We destroyed that was thankless for its means of livelihood! [Allah reacting with slaughter of whole communities for being thankless!] 38:61 Cursed: wherever they are found they shall be seized and murdered, a (horrible) murdering. [Allah's reaction to the hypocrites for sedition] 2:88 And they say: Our hearts are hardened. Nay, but Allah hath cursed them for their unbelief. Little is that which they believe. 2:89 The curse of Allah is on disbelievers. [Allah's reaction to unbelief is to curse the unbelievers roundly!] 5:60 Shall I tell thee of a worse (case) than theirs for retribution with Allah ? (Worse is the case of him) whom Allah hath cursed, him on whom His wrath hath fallen and of whose sort Allah hath turned some to apes and swine, and who serveth idols. Such are in worse plight and further astray from the plain road. 002.065 : And well ye knew those amongst you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath: We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected." [Here the Almighty is reacting by turning some people into apes and swine] 17:46 And We have placed coverings on their hearts and a heaviness in their ears lest they understand it, and when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran they turn their backs in aversion. [The Merciful Almighty reacting to unbelievers by preventing them from understanding the Koran that is being recited] 8:67 "---My love to you.---" Thank you for your love. Looking at the Islamic world and Muslims living in the non-Islamic world I wish more of them develop love for others. You keep talking about reactive souls. Don't you think that Muslims are the most reactive people. Look at the reaction to the knighting of Salman Rushdie. Look at the reaction to the Danish cartoons. Why do you think people who claim to have surrendered to the Almighty are so reactive. What acid is it that enters their souls when they surrender to the Almighty to make them so reactive? Infidels who have refused to make this surrender are so much less reactive. Warm regards Plato It is not fit for a prophet that he should take captives unless he has fought and triumphed in the land; you desire the frail goods of this world, while Allah desires (for you) the hereafter; and Allah is Mighty, Wise. [Allah reacting to the Prophet's taking prisoners for ransom rather slaughtering all of them!]
