To: Raqib Ahmed AsifReader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Oliver (United States), Jul 16, 2007 at 22:44 Raqib, it is obvious that we are experiencing some small degree of a language barrier, I don't understand what your problem is with Is in Greek and Ys in Hebrew becoming Js in English - this is a childish argument, but for our little language barrier. In a previous post you asked for evidence that 'Jesus' ever claimed to be God - I provided a lengthy series of NT verses that demonstrated 'Jesus' had not only claimed to be God but that the Jews understood His claim a tried to stone Him - you have made no reply. Just so that there will be no room for doubt, I have provided another series of verses that present the same evidence. You will note the "the Word" (Jesus) was in the beginning with God and that "the Word" (Jesus) WAS GOD. Also note that "the Word" (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among them. And they (the Disiples) saw His glory - the glory of the 'one and only Son' who came from the Father. The Father sent His 'one and only Son' not to condemn the world, but to save it so that all who believe in His name shall not perish but have eternal life. Finally, there is the story of how the Apostle Thomas doubted the resurrection of 'Jesus' - so he protested that he would not believe until he placed his fingers into the nail holes and where the spear had pierced His side. Then 'Jesus' appeared before them and Thomas saw the wounds in His body and Thomas worshipped 'Jesus' and pronounced "My LORD and my GOD." Please, pay attention - 'Jesus' did not object to the worship by Thomas - He did not rebuke him for worshipping someone other than GOD - because He IS GOD, the Son. I know - you will never believe this - but, you will never see eternal life until you do - may the true and living God Almighty enlighten you - Raqib. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all people. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcomea it. ... 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. John20:24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymusa), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe." 26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" 27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." 28 Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" 29 Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." 30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe b that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
