To Syed Rafey: A cult of male violence against the weakReader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Plato (United Arab Emirates), Jul 4, 2007 at 01:51 Syed Rafey you wrote to Donvan: "---Cult of what? Provide evidence that Islam promotes violence against weak etc.---" You can beat your wife if you consider her disobedient and you can do it because she is weak. 4:34 Here is Allah himself saying that he has made women weak, especially note the part about men spending their property on them. Why are women economically weak in Islam? Because you prevent women from acquiring wealth by confining them to the home as they are not given the freedom to move around without a close male relative as an escort. So men gain control over their lives and this verse gives you the authority to mistreat them if you feel they are disobedient. This cult of violence against the weak (women) is being played out in all Islamic countries. In Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and almost any Islamic country you can name. Now do you want supporting evidence from the hadiths? Remember Tabari and Ishaq reporting what the Prophet called them in his last sermon? One reports him calling women the prisoners of men and another that they are like animals in your possession. Did not the Prophet have old men and women murdered for criticising him. Any decent person would consider old men and women weak. And Muslims are expected to follow the Prophet's example. They are following it faithfully. Murder of Farag Foda, Theo Van gogh, fatwas and death threats against Salman Rushdie. Regards Plato Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
