ReligionsReader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Protegimus (United States), Jul 12, 2007 at 15:41 Religions were created to keep people apart. If someone were to call you an idiot, would you slap on an explosive vest and run onto a train and blow yourself up because the train was full of similar looking people to the one who called you a stupid name. All of these comments have been going on for Centuries, it will never change until the majority of the world's population learn to accept they are not perfect and that includes religious beliefs, politics, football teams, colour of skin etc, etc. Suicide bombings prove nothing, initially they make the headlines then they are quickly forgotten about, except by the relatives and close friends of the murdered victims. I find it unbeleivable hearing about the evil crusaders the Ottoman Empire the Mongols the Nazi's etc. Instead of learning from previous mistakes, they are used by complete morons to fuel more anger. Good Christians do not condone violence any more than good Muslims. If you do not agree with some words written by someone then do'nt buy any of his books, guess what that's your choice. The sad truth of the matter is there will always be someone fighting about something. Man is self destructive and as long as there are old men sending young men to die for one cause or another, it will never end.
