A Message For RushdieReader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Syed Rafey Husain (Pakistan), Jun 29, 2007 at 02:22 I have message for Rushdie, if he cares. Discussing way to surrender to All Mighty is a delicate subject while novels are for the pleasure of mind. Novels are food for body/mind not for soul. I invite Rushdie for a talk on his book. You are brought up in an Islamic family in Mumbai but taught at Cathedral and John Connon School. To me this is a clear indication, that due to your education and family background you are confused about Islam and Christianity since his early age. And unable to surrender! This confusion is not harmonious for your or any other soul. Again in my perspective, your soul has become "reactive" with passage of time and finding no clear answer how to surrender All Mighty. If you have different opinion, you could share. Rushdie, your idea of The Satanic Verses will not provide hungry souls way out. Reformation within societies is a delicate subject. Removing rust from religion (being matters of souls) is even far more delicate job. Writing Novel on such subject, if on one hand is not delicate (but brutal) piece of work, then on the other hand your efforts have made so many souls sad. Look again the outline you sketched in your novel, and review its plot once again if you really care. And rewrite! Syed Rafey HusainKarachi, Pakistan
