SYED,Reader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by DONVAN (United States), Jul 11, 2007 at 09:06 Wars are political events, not religious ones. We on planet earth, learned long ago that the separation of the religious from the political is a requirement for a civilized society. The US does, from time to time, go to war to protect its interests. This is an unfortunate reality. However, we do not go to war to spread the Christian religion. Unlike the Muhammedian political philosophy which requires its followers to kill non believers to get to paradise. This is, obviously, an alien concept for the Moslem mind to grasp. Inorder to be a "Good Muslim" you must embrace the Islamist model of the spreading of religion by the "Sword of allah". We understand the notion of "Submit or die". Muhammed ,Hitler,Marx,Stalin and others all embraced the notion of submission to some power, (communism nazism, etc) rather than the free expression of the individual. While you may not like Jews,Christians or infidels or apostates, they have as much right to their beliefs as you or any Muhammedian. Moslems have killed, and persecuted others because of their beliefs since Muhammed 's time, and still do. They cannot help themselves. When Muhammedians become more numerous and powerful than non Muhammedians, repression, and persecution follows. I have communicated with many Christians in Pakistan, and the repression real and severe. So, I ask you again to open your heart, and see Christians,Jews, infidels and Sunni and Shiites as human beings and not representives as their particular belief systems, and you have an obligation toe protect them from harm.
